Paladin

At 3rd level, a paladin gains the Sacred Oath feature, which offers you the choice of a subclass. The following Oath of Freedom option is available to you when making that choice.

Oath of Freedom

The Oath of Freedom is sworn to a simple truth: no one but I may choose my path or identity. Paladins who swear this oath refuse to be defined or pigeonholed by those around them, and guarantee that others have the same rights as they. Oath of Freedom paladins are found everywhere by virtue of their call, but it's not uncommon to see them overthrowing slave traders or burning exploitative brothels. Oath of Freedom paladins chafe at the idea of structured orders, instead preferring a self-defined, wandering lifestyle common of adventurers.

Tenets of Freedom

The tenets of the Oath of Freedom carve a reminder in the paladin's mind of the rights that they—and every living creature—deserve to hold.

Free. No one can decide your path. You alone choose what to resist, to enjoy, to feel, and to uphold.

Self-Defined. Names, jobs, genders, and all other descriptors are naught but labels to be discarded when convenient. Your identity is your own.

Path Less Traveled. Forging your own path requires a strength of will and feet alike, and when walking doesn't work, use hands or even wings to transcend your obstacles.

For All. More than a selfish refusal to conform to society, your path is to ensure that all peoples have access to the same freedom you uphold.

Channel Divinity

3rd-level Oath of Freedom feature

You gain the following Channel Divinity options. See the Sacred Oath class feature for how Channel Divinity works.

Preternatural Agility. You can use your Channel Divinity to quicken your and your allies' steps and dodges. As an action, you present your holy symbol, and up to five other creatures of your choice that you can see within 30 feet of you gain the ability to take the Disengage and Dash actions as a bonus action for 1 minute or until you lose your concentration (as if you were

concentrating on a spell). Once a creature uses either of these actions as a bonus action, it can't use that action as a bonus action again unless it has its own means of doing so.

Breaker of Chains. As an action, you can use your Channel Divinity to let loose an intimidating howl to shake the core of those who would oppress and contain. Any creature within 60 feet of you that is grappling or restraining another creature must make a Charisma saving throw. On a failed save, any effects causing creatures to be grappled or restrained by that creature end. If a creature is grappled or restrained by a terrain feature or an inanimate object, such as a trap, those conditions end automatically.

Quicksilver Aura

7th-level Oath of Freedom feature

Creatures have disadvantage on opportunity attacks against you and friendly creatures who start their turn within 10 feet of you. In addition, you and friendly creatures within 10 feet of you have advantage on Strength (Athletics) and Dexterity (Acrobatics) checks to avoid being grappled or shoved. Further, you and friendly creatures who start their turn within 10 feet of you have climbing and swimming speeds equal to their walking speed and can't be slowed by nonmagical difficult terrain until the end of their turn.

At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.

Actualized Defenses

15th-level Oath of Freedom feature

Your fortitude in preserving yourself is formidable to the point of harming those who attempt to harm you. When a creature forces you to make a saving throw, you can use your reaction to deal 2d8 + your Charisma modifier psychic damage to that creature.

Platonic Ideal of You

20th-level Oath of Freedom feature

As an action, you can magically assume an enhanced form of your choosing, gaining the following benefits for 1 minute:

  • Your form cannot be altered by any means unless you allow it.
  • You are immune to any conditions, spells, or effects that would reduce your speed or restrict you from taking actions, such as the stunned condition or the slow spell.

Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.

Spell: Chrono Shift

1st-level divination

  • Classes: Artificer, Bard, Sorcerer, Wizard
  • Casting Time: 1 action
  • Range: 60 feet
  • Components: V, S
  • Duration: Instantaneous

You magically accelerate the relative time of one of your allies. Choose one friendly creature within range. The target's turn takes place immediately after the end of your current turn. This expends the turn the target would have otherwise taken between your current turn and your next turn. A creature targeted by this spell cannot cast chrono shift during the turn granted by this spell, due to the instability of accelerated relative time.
