Martial Archetype

At 3rd level, a fighter chooses a martial archetype, and the Kinsect Warrior is another option for that feature.

Kinsect Warrior

Those who chose the archetype of the Kinsect Warrior form a lifelong bond with a kinsect, a small but powerful creature. An agile combatant, Kinsect Warriors are empowered by the essense their kinsects take from their foes, using it to strike harder and leap farther than any normal warrior.

Kinsect Companion

3rd-level Kinsect Warrior feature

You have acquired the companionship of a kinsect, a powerful creature capable of stealing the essence from one creature to empower another. Your kinsect fights your side, aiding you in battle.

Whenever you take the Attack action on your turn, you can forgo any of your attacks with a command to your kinsect to strike a creature within 30 feet of you. The kinsect flys out and strikes the target with supreme swiftness, bypassing their defenses, dealing 1d4 piercing damage and extracting some of their essence.

At 10th level, the damage dealt by your kinsect increases to 2d4.

Essense Infusion

3rd-level Kinsect Warrior feature

Your kinsect can use the essence it extracts to empower you. Whenever your kinsect deals damage to a small or larger creature, you gain one of the following Essence Infusions of your choice, which lasts for 1 minute. It ends early if you are incapacitated.

  • Amp. You are infused with greater strength. Your weapon attacks deal an additional 1d4 damage.
  • Hasten. You are infused with greater speed. Your speed is increased by 10 feet.
  • Harden. You are infused with greater defence. Your AC is increased by 1.

You can have a maximum number of infusions equal to half your proficiency bonus, and only one of each type. If you gain another infusion while at your maximum, the oldest is replaced.

Essense Forged

7th-level Kinsect Warrior feature

The constant infusions of essence from you kinsect have made your body naturally stronger. Your long jump is up to 25 feet and your high jump is up to 15 feet, with or without a running start, and you can reduce any falling damage you take by an amount equal to your fighter level.

Additionally, your kinsect's damage counts as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistances and immunities.

Kinsect Evolution

10th-level Kinsect Warrior feature

Your kinsect has extracted enough essence to undergo an evolution, gaining greater strength. Choose one of the following benefits for your kinsect to gain.

  • Horned. The damage dealt by your kinsect increases to 2d6
  • Swift. The range your kinsect can strike at increases to 60 feet. When you roll for initiative, you can command your Kinsect to strike a creature before any creature acts.
  • Armored. The first time on each of your turns that your kinsects damages a creature, the creature must succeed a Strength saving throw or be knocked prone. (DC equal to 8 + your proficiency modifier + your choice of your Strength or Dexterity modifier)

Aerial Ace

15th-level Kinsect Warrior feature

You have learned to fight like your kinsect, striking out as you leap through the air. Once per turn, when you hit with an attack immediately after performing a long or high jump, you can make one attack with a weapon as a bonus action.

Essence Rush

18th-level Kinsect Warrior feature

Your body has adapted to the essence given to you by your kinsect, and can combine them to amplify their effects. As a bonus action while you have one of each Essence Infusion, you can double all of the bonuses you gain from Essence Infusion for 1 minute, or until you no longer have one of each infusion.

Once you use this feature, you cannot do so again until you complete a long rest.
