Roguish Archetype: Vindicator

You are an agent of your faith, empowered to see its will done. You seek out heresy, and eliminate those who would who stand against your faith.

Rogues who follow this archetype are usually inquisitors, seekers of religious truths, or agents of divine forces with less scruples than most. Your skills focus on seeking truth, and destroying evil (or good), utilising potentially heretical tools to see your faith's will done.

Spellcasting

When you reach 3rd level, you augment your martial prowess with the ability to cast spells.

Cantrips

You learn two cantrips of your choice from the cleric spell list. You learn another cleric cantrip of your choice at 10th level.

Spell Slots

The Vindicator Spellcasting table shows how many spell slots you have to cast your spells of 1st level and higher. To cast one of these spells, you must expend a slot of the spell's level or higher. You regain all expended spell slots when you finish a long rest.

You prepare the list of paladin spells that are available for you to cast, choosing from the paladin spell list. When you do so, choose a number of paladin spells equal to your Wisdom modifier + a third of your rogue level, rounded down (minimum of one spell). The spells must be of a level for which you have spell slots. You must choose these spells from the abjuration and evocation schools. You can choose 1 spell from any school of magic. You can choose an additional spells from any schools at higher levels. 2 at 7th, 3 at 13th, and 4 at 19th.

For example, if you are a 7th-level rogue, you have four 1st-level and two 2nd-level spell slots. With a Wisdom of 14, your list of prepared spells can include four spells of 1st or 2nd level, in any combination. If you prepare the 1st-level spell Cure Wounds, you can cast it using a 1st-level or a 2nd-level slot. Casting the spell doesn't remove it from your list of prepared spells.

You can change your list of prepared spells when you finish a long rest. Preparing a new list of paladin spells requires time spent in prayer and meditation: at least 1 minute per spell level for each spell on your list.

Spellcasting Ability

Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for your cleric spells. The power of your spells comes from your devotion to your deity or cause. You use your Wisdom whenever a cleric spell refers to your spellcasting ability. In addition, you use your Wisdom modifier when setting the saving throw DC for a cleric spell you cast and when making an attack roll with one.

Spell Save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus +

Spellcasting Focus

You can use a holy symbol as a spellcasting focus for your cleric spells.

Expose Apostasy

At 3rd level, you've dedicated yourself to rooting out those who would stand against you. Thanks to this, you have advantage on all Wisdom (Insight) checks to catch someone lying, or concealing information.

Vanquish Villain

Starting from 9th level, your Sneak Attack deals your choice between radiant damage, necrotic damage, or the damage of your weapon.

Furthermore, you can use your Sneak Attack feature against celestials, fiends, or undead even if you don't have advantage on the attack roll, but not if you have disadvantage on it.

Ready for Anything

Also at 9th level, through divine providence or gut instinct, you are ready to act when the time comes. You have advantage on initiative rolls.

Additionally, if you are surprised at the beginning of combat and aren't incapacitated, you can act normally on your first turn

Use Profane Object

By 13th level, you have learned enough about the workings of magic that you can improvise the use of items even when they are not intended for you. You ignore all alignment, class, and level requirements on the use of magic items.

Righteous Indignation

At 17th level, the sight of detestable acts fuels your will to see right done.

If you advantage on all weapon attacks against a creature that you've caught lying within the last minute.
