Shardmind

Shardminds are sentient fragments of the Living Gate, which once stood at the pinnacle of the intricate lattace of the Astral Sea. Beyond the gate lay the alien Far Realm, and the gate's destruction during the Dawn War resulted in the rise of the mind flayer empire. Though Ioun's power holds the portal closed, shardminds seek to rebuild the gate and forever cut off the Far Realm's ability to influence the world.

Physical Appearance

Since Shardminds don't age they always look the same. Their bodies resemble a humanoid made out of shards of various crystals and stones. Depending on their rank and "age" they might develope certain runes on their bodies that read out their achievements or certain changing features in ther time of existence.

Names

Most Shardminds dont have names since they dont need them to communicate. Yet for the sake of easier communication with most mortals the developed a system where they use meaningful nouns (such as: Fire, Acid, Vision, Soul, etc.) to help other identifying them.
