Dragonguard
Slot: Armour
Shielded from Breath
Item Details
"Steel and gold, ideal for armour and dragons. As they covet the icon, so does it repel their intentions. The more they seek to claim it, the more it drives away their anger and attacks.""
Dragonguard is an enchanted Breastplate which has a golden dragon motif worked into the front of the metal. It was missed during the sacking of the Mine as Orcs rarely use such armours, and it remains on a bench awaiting its long-dead owner to arrive. Despite its age, the leather is still supple and intact, protected from time by the enchantment worked into the metal.
History
Creation
"The biggest threat of a Dragon can be argued as its breath. For a start, it stinks something awful; you try sneaking up on a Dragon who hasn't had their teeth cleaned in decades without coughing or vomiting to give away your presence. The second biggest threat of a Dragon is the Breath. All that work, and you get cooked by flames, melted by acids, or whatever sort of magic they spew out."
Dragonguard was created for a hero of Neverwinter, called Tergon. The armour was never collected as the Mine and Phandalin was lost to the Orcs before he could arrive post-forging. It has remained since, waiting to be discovered.
Effects
"The Dragon reared back, off-yellow scales on its throat backlit by a hellish red light. Jaws spread open, its maw lit by the flickering of flames, before they rushed forth. To the one who wears this armour, such flames almost seem to avoid their body, flowing around and past them."
Dragonguard is enchanted to protect against the magic of Dragons; specifically, the magic that fuels their Breath. When worn, the bearer of this armour finds such magic slides across them like oil over water. It grants Advantage on Saving Throws against the Breath weapons of any creatures that have the Dragon type.
