Cambion

As a cambion, you were the offspring of a fiend and a humanoid but hold a stronger connection with your fiendish heritage than even most tieflings will. You may bear great goring horns, a short stature or many other products of your humanoid heritage alongside your fiendish one. Either way, you are born to be an overlord of mere mortals and bear powerful fiendish blessings.

Your cambion character has the following traits as a result of their heritage.

Ability Score Increase. Increase one ability score by 2, and increase a different one by 1.

Age. Cambions are the offspring of a fiend and a human. They mature at the same rate as humans and typically live a few years longer.

Size. Cambions height can range wildly based upon the particular fiend and humanoid that make up your parentage. Your size is Small or Medium.

Speed. Your walking speed is 30 feet.

Fiend. Your creature type is fiend, rather than humanoid.

Darkvision. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Preternatural Skill. You have proficiency in one of the following skills of your choice: Deception, Intimidation, Perception, or Stealth.

Protective Blessings. As a reaction, when you are hit by an attack you can increase your AC by an amount equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of one) against the triggering attack, potentially causing the attack to miss. After the attack has hit or missed, your AC returns to normal. You can use this reaction a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses of it when you finish a long rest.

Fiendish Legacy. You gain the ability to cast the detect magic spell, but only as a ritual. Once you reach 3rd level, you can cast the charm person spell once as a 2nd-level spell. Once you reach 5th level, you can also cast the scorching ray spell once. You must finish a long rest to cast these spells again with this trait. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells. You can also cast these spells normally with any spell slots you have.

Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common, Abyssal and Infernal.

Options. You should not be compelled to have Charisma be the modifier which this race uses for its abilities. It is the ability score which is best suited to the lore of fiends but that may not fit your character. If you wish, you may substitute all places where Charisma appears here with either Intelligence or Wisdom. You may also feel that Cambion's ought to have the ability to fly. If you do, substitute the Fiendish Legacy trait for the following trait:

Fiendish Wings. You have a flying speed equal to your walking speed.
