Monk - Way of Creeping Vines
The free thinkers of Apparat have always been obsessed with nature and the possibility of creating organisms that are both plant and animal. Its singular monastery, World Tree's Hollow, houses monks that use their ki to change themselves into just such creatures. They claim that ki is the only true path to this goal, as there is no energy more natural in the universe.
Bonus Proficiency
3rd-level Way of Creeping Vines feature
You gain proficiency in the Nature skill.
Reclaimed Technique
3rd-level Way of Creeping Vines feature
The ki within you presents itself as organic matter that can sprout forth from your body or nearby surfaces. Accordingly, your ki features improve in the following ways:
Flurry of Blows. On a hit, each attack's target must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a fail, vines begin to grow around the target and quickly wither away, causing its speed to be reduced to 0 until the start of your next turn.
Patient Defense. Bark appears all over your body for a short time. You gain a +2 bonus to Armor Class this turn.
Step of the Wind. Plant matter cushions your footsteps this turn, allowing you to ignore difficult terrain and gain advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks you make.
World Tree's Sight
6th-level Way of Creeping Vines feature
A creature's senses can be fooled, but the vision of the World Tree is unerring. You have blindsight with a range of 20 feet. Within that range, you can effectively see anything that isn't behind total cover, even if you're blinded or in darkness. Moreover, you can see an invisible creature within that range, unless the creature successfully hides from you.
As a bonus action, you can spend 2 ki points to see into the Ethereal Plane with a range of 20 feet for 1 minute, but you can't interact with creatures there unless you have the ability to do so. Also, you automatically detect visual illusions within range and succeed on saving throws against them.
Sporic Ki
11th-level Way of Creeping Vines feature
You can form spore-like collections of pure ki that affect any nearby creatures of your choosing. The specific spore types you can make are detailed below.
Choking Spores. You can spend 3 ki points as an action to release spores around you in a 10-foot-radius sphere. Each creature you choose within this range must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or become poisoned for 1 minute. While poisoned this way, a creature's speed is halved, and it has disadvantage on any Strength and Dexterity saving throws it makes.
Static Spores. You can spend 4 ki points as an action to release electrically-charged spores in a 30-foot cone. Each creature you choose inside the cone must make a Dexterity saving throw. A target takes 5d8 lightning damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. A creature that is within 5 feet of another creature being forced to make this saving throw has disadvantage on the saving throw.
Force of Nature
17th-level Way of Creeping Vines feature
In some ways, you have become more plant than animal. You are immune to radiant damage, and you resist bludgeoning and piercing damage from nonmagical attacks. This feature doesn't grant you resistance to slashing damage.
Additionally, you no longer need to breathe.
Optional Feature: Fire Vulnerability
If you want to embrace your plant side even more fully once you reach your 17th level, you can choose to gain vulnerability to fire damage. If you do, you gain resistance to acid, cold, lightning, and thunder damage.
