Tutor

Substitute Teacher

2nd-level Tutor feature

You are capable of teaching any class. You can copy any ritual spell into your spellbook, assuming you are the appropriate level. These spells can only be cast as a ritual, however.

Star Pupil

2nd-level Tutor feature

When you adopt this subclass, you can designate one willing creature as your pupil and begin to teach them the basics of Wizardry. After every long rest, you can prepare spells from your spell book for them to use. The number of spells you can prepare is equal to your Proficiency Bonus. The spells you choose to prepare cannot exceed 5th level.

They count as spells for your pupil’s class and don’t count against the number of spells they can prepare/know. If your pupil lacks the spellcasting or Pact Magic feature, they can cast each spell once using your spell attack modifier and save DC.

You can only have one pupil at a time, you can designate a willing creature as your new pupil by completing a long rest.

Recess

6th-level Tutor feature

If you and your pupil are resting together and you use Arcane Recovery, your pupil gains the benefits of this feature as well. The combined level of the spell slots your pupil wishes to recover cannot exceed half your Wizard level (rounded down).

If your pupil lacks the Spellcasting or Pact Magic feature, they can recover one expended spell from Star Pupil instead. This increases to recovering two spells at 10th level and three spells at 14th level.

Teacher’s Aid

10th-level Tutor feature

If you or your pupil are reduced to 0 hit points but not outright killed, the other can use their reaction to create a protective ward. The ward allows the creature that was reduced to 0 hit points to drop to 1 hit point instead. You and your pupil must be within 60ft of each other to use this feature.

You can both use this feature once, regaining all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Reciprocated Learning

14th-level Tutor feature

Teachers are constantly learning from their students. While you are preparing your pupil’s spells each day, you can learn two spells from their classes spell list. These spells count as Wizard spells for you and don’t count against the number of spells you can prepare each day.

The spells you choose cannot exceed 5th level and you lose the ability to cast these spells when you finish your next long rest. If your pupil lacks the Spellcasting or Pact Magic feature, you can prepare two additional Wizard spells instead.

Restriction: Only spells available from the Wizard’s spell list are compatible with features such as Spell Mastery.
