Korenna

From The Roots

Коренна (kor-en-na). Korenna is the Root of all Essence. Korenna is what flows through all. It is said that if you truly understand Korenna then you understand the meaning of Life. Korenna directly translates to Common as From The Roots.

Korenna captures the concept of where all Essence comes from, whether that be from the Elements, Emotions, Hearts, Life-Forces, Thoughts, or Souls. In other words, it is the Root of Power; Chakra, Chi (Ki), Psionic, Ritual, and Spell abilities. When you access the Essence of Magical Weaves whether external or internal you are accessing Korenna.

Korenna is "SHE" though some cultures refer to "Her" as Korennite "They", Korenen "He", or Korenno "It". No matter what gender you recognize the story is the same and the concept is similar.

It is said that the Goddess, Mokosh, Mother of Essence is directly responsible for Korenna. Giving the gift originally to the souls of the material plane to help guide their souls through intention to the afterlife plane that they would truly "believe" they belonged in.

Of course, Mokosh's creation grew a "Self aka Consciousness" of its own blending with the Mycelium and Dark Matter Networks as well as all the consciousnesses of the Aldebaren Universe both those with Souls and/or Lifeforce and those without Souls and/or Lifeforce.

This newfound Universal Consciousness (mind) not only was the Crux of Intention amplification but in turn responsible for the increase in power and control individuals had over the Weave. In addition, this Nexus event gave birth to a countless number of Creatures and Planes including for example the Fey Plane and the Shadow Plane.

Whether or not you can access the Weave the Korenna still is with you and communicates with all those who have souls through their intentions as their inner voice. The more centered you are the stronger this connection is.

Essence Същност

Essence is energy. More accurately the intention behind an Action, Creature, Feeling, or Object. Another way to put it is an over arching description for the power in the intention of Elements, Emotions, Hearts, Lifeforces, Thoughts, and Souls. A power that is located in everything and everyone.

Those who access the Weave are accessing an Essence in one way or another. Since everything has essence you can see how it is not about the amount of essence available but rather about the accessibility of thus Essence as well as the concentration, and method that the essence is focused and used that creates the power we see.

All energies both external (from the Weave) and internal (from the Self) have and use essence to create power.

External Using Outward Energy

External users of energy access essence externally from The Weave a force that is in the space and/or environment around them. Their act of casting gathers and focuses the essence from an external source carried in The Weave. Rearranging thus essence into the power their intention wants to produce. This use of external essence requires more training and practice than most other methods of utilizing essence.

Internal Using Inward Energy

Internal users of energy alternatively access essence from within. They grab upon their own essence that they produce whether that be power from the heart (body), mind, or soul. This method is oftentimes more reliable and trustworthy as it has less reliance on external factors.

Though using your internal essence requires more inner strength and some would say willpower, self-awareness, and discipline. Therefore, when you are worn out it can oftentimes be more difficult to take from your internal essence.

Created by JKyle

We see that Magical items, foods, and concoctions have an intense focus of essence in them. In addition, as we see in the case of magical geometric shapes, that the method the essence is delivered is just as powerful if not more powerful than the focus and concentration of the essence.

Extracting Act of Uprooting

Essence can be Extracted and Captured from pretty much anything and I mean anything. As we know that essence is in everything. You can extract the essence from an intention, feeling, thought, lifeforce, soul, faith, creature, and etc... the list goes on and on and on with really there being no limit to what you can extract from. Extracting takes the Extracting Activity and could range for any length of time but typically will take an average of 8 hours requiring the extractor’s attention that full time.

Extracting uses ritual Korenna meaning that you need to perform a ritual for the extraction process. You will also need to have an item capable of holding the type of essence being extracted and strong enough to hold the resulting concentrated essence. At the end of whatever process you used you will have had trapped the extracted essence into the item that is your holder. At this point, the extracted essence is now called an Essence Salt or just Salt. You can now craft the holder into an item to make a unique magical item or an Essence Salt Focus of some type that will help and/or enhance the abilities of an internal essence user.

Extraction theoretically could also be used to take a magic effect, cruise, or property out of a magical item (something) though the complete removal is not guaranteed and this can be way more dangerous and strenuous activity. In order to completely remove the magic from something requires dealing with a much higher volume and a much more complex system. For reason this rarely done and in turn diffcult to find or make ritual designs that detail how to achieve this. A caster may also be required in a process like this.

Imbuing Act of rooting

Similarly to extracting and trapping essence into an object a spell user (caster) can do a similar process to archive a very similar range of outcomes. A spell user can use ritual Korenna to undergo a similar more dangerous but less time consuming process know as Imbuing. As like with Extracting, Imbuing is an activity that can be performed. The activity can take any where from 10 minutes to several hours or days but typically only a few minutes of the casters time and the rest is just a waiting game. Meaning the caster can majority of the time go off to do other activities and actions.

Imbuing is th act of gathering essence from an external source. Using a incomplete spell and redirecting and reshaping the drawn power of that essence into an object (or theoretically anything) in turn imbuing the object with magic. Through the method of imbuing can take almost just about the same amount of knowledge and skill as casting a spell, a Blueprint is strongly recommended.

Created by JKyle

This is because for one you want to make sure the item can not only just hold the power but can also hold it safely in a way that is useful to you. Two, the act of holding that much potential power of an incomplete spell, despite seemingly looking to be easier, is inherently very dangerous and needs to be handled with care and responsibility. Going about it half cocked will lead to way worse consequences then Extracting ever could.

Using a Blueprint and sometimes a Formula or even both you can imbue an item with magic. Sometimes at this point item is now already the Magic Item or the Enhancing Arcana Focus you wanted as the imbuing was the final step to Blueprint and/or Formula you used. In that you can again see how much less time Imbuing can take over the act of Extracting. Though sometimes further crafting or building will be needed.

The Weave Тъкането

The Weave can be thought of as a Woven Tapestry Masterpiece. An invisible, intangible, and powerful ever reaching hand of the Korenna. A wave of interwoven strings all with their own uniqueness, flow, and story. The golden roads that carry Essence through the Aldebaren Universe and possibly beyond.

Theology Study of Religion

Pursuers and followers of Theology have many sets of beliefs on the Weave. With some idolizing it to be the one true Deity even with going as far as to say it is the one and only OverDeity.

Many claim it is impossible to understand or ever fully comprehend the Weave. They emphasis faith as the driving factor of the Weave and in some extreme views forbid the mention of the Weave or even visualizing the Weave.

Arcanology Study of Arcana

On a more practical side scholars of Arcanology may spend their entire life trying further their understand of Weave with often times the goal being to access more power and to potentially control the Weave. Many don't go as far as worshipping the Weave but they honor and respect the Weave to the fullest of their ability. They think the Weave is just beyond our grasp of awareness. That through the Weave enlightenment is possible.

Saying that the Weave was designed for us, Material Beings. That it has a mind of its own and that mind wants to share its knowledge and will do so willingly when we are ready. For that reason the research of some just focuses primarily on self improvement. Increasing the expansion of their mind. Embracing the energies of the external abilities in order for the smallest of chances to getting closer to the Weave.

Actualology Study of the Self

Those that practice understanding the internal energies along with that themselves say that though The Weave is to be respected and is a gift it is also an interference to truly understanding one's self. The Weave is a block to accessing one's inner mind and connecting with one's own soul.

It dilutes the true power of one's own mind, body, soul, and spirit. They often times believe that once you access The Weave you cut yourself off from achieving Enlightenment and in doing so prevent yourself from reaching the legendary goal of ascension. The lifetime pursuit of most internal practitioners that very few ever achieve.

Morphology Study of Form

Science scholars and those who take a more technical approach to reality, like an Artificer, and Engineer, might think of the Weave as the fabric of the subatomic word. A fabric of point-like particles built of one-dimensional strings that cover all of the universe along with it's multitude of realities. They would describe to you that much like the vibrating strings of an instrument the Weave vibrates all around us. Each with their own unique vibrational state all reacting to the moment by moment flow that all matter and energy produces. Those gifted in accessing the Weave are tapping into a Fifth unseen Fundamental force. They would argue that the Weave blends with Dark Matter because it is Dark Energy.

Omniology Study of Everything

It could be said that they are all correct in their own ways. Every ideology adds to the story of the Weave. Connects with the Weave and is shared throughout all of the Aldebaren Universe. Every story told again and again each time with a unique twist and flavor. When you look at The Weave of Korenna is built of intention and power by thought, belief, and faith. All of the ideas no matter how different from one another is all equally essential to keeping the mystic, spiritual, and quantum fabric of the Weave afloat.

Ethos or Flow Essence of The Weave

Ethos sometimes referred to as flow or channel is the essence that travels within The Weave. The essence that all casters (external users of magic) utilize for their power and to cast spells. The Weave has a countless number of different types of Flow running through it. Each represents known and unknown types of magic (energy). The best way to imagine this is to picture The Weave as a Tapestry or Quilt with every thread representing a different channel of energy. Below you will find detail on known types of magic (energy) that travel freely through The Weave's Ethos.

Manipulating The Weave Magic

All external magic extracts their energy from the Weave in some way or form. This could be the act of casting or performing a ritual. Whatever the form of extraction you are manipulating The Weave. Manipulation of the Weave can be dangerous and should only be done with caution and skill.

There are four elements to all spells and rituals.

Sacrifice

This is about showing your intention and commitment. A sacrifice could also be thought of as a contribution to The Weave. An equal or greater amount of energy has to be freely gifted to The Weave in order to use energy from The Weave. It is a balance of give and take. Simply put the stronger the spell or ritual the more of a sacrifice will be needed.

Sacrifice could be an external energy (typically from an ingredient) or an internal energy (typically from the body, mind, or soul).

The sacrifice of an external energy is nowhere near as powerful as the sacrifice of an internal energy but sometimes a spells needs a certain type of energy (magic) that can not be powered from an internal source. So typically external ingredient is low in power but contains a unique type of energy (magic) that can not be found internally.

External energies are so incredibly diverse compared to internal energies. Even between the same types of external energy (magic) they could flow differently. For this reason and the reason detailed below it is very important to know the full reason why a certain ingredient is asked for in a spell or ritual.

If you were to replace the need for external energy (ingredient) with internal energy (body, mind, or soul) then because the internal energy would typically not match the energy needed a lot more of the internal energy would be required. Often times to an amount of internal energy that would be intolerable to a caster and lead to them gaining exhaustion or even dying.

Similarly, an internal energy is required either because a large amount of any type of energy (magic) is needed or because a specific type of internal energy is needed. Typically casters tend to prefer the use of external energy where ever possible as they see drawing from the internal as weakening them.

Channel

This is the vehicle (method) of delivering your sacrifice (contribution) to The Weave. The ultimate goal of a channel is to create a conduit for the energy to travel into The Weave. Not having the right or a good channel could mean either the spell or ritual will not be possible, something could go wrong, or more energy will be needed in turn making it harder to cast and more dangerous.

The vehicle of a sacrifice is oftentimes called a Component. A component is a Verbal, Somatic, or Ingredient. Ingredient components are usually a vehicle for external sacrifice while Verbal and Somatic components are always a vehicle for internal sacrifice.

Sometimes an ingredient could be a conduit to help the sacrifice of an internal energy. This could be done for example by an ingredient assisting in the establishment of emotions through creating an atmosphere, meaning, or urgency. For example in rituals candles are oftentimes used to this effect.

Even if two different components can be the vehicle for the same type of energy (magic) how they channel and/or focus (see below) thus energy might differ greatly. Therefore it may still be important to use the ingredient called for.

Created by JKyle

In rituals, you may hear the words incantation or sigil. Incantations are large chunks of verbal and/or somatic components compiled together oftentimes repeated or chanted for an extended amount of time to greater effect. Sigils primarily are a form of Focus but Sigils also are able to serve the purpose of assisting in channeling sacrifice. As a well-designed Sigil is a conduit and can change the direction of The Weave. This is explained further, below.

Down to the nuts and bolts what makes a great channel is the symbolic meaning of the channel. For example, if you are casting a water spell then the components whether verbal, somatic, or an ingredient will make this best channel if they involve, represent, or contain water in some way metaphorically or literally. Though this is not always the case and you could get by with just a high-quality component that is not a symbolic match.

Focus

A focus amplifies the transaction of energy occurring and/or helps hone in on the correct type of energy (magic) needed from The Weave. For simpler spells and rituals often times the channel will or can also be the focus. Though for more complex spells and rituals you will want a component to be a dedicated focus. Primarily goal of a focus is to enhance the sacrifice or gift in order to reduce the sacrifice. Let us look at the main types of components mentioned above and how they can be used to focus.

The goal of a Somatic, Verbal and the occasional Ingredient Focus is to focus by creating imaginary and stirring up the emotional or thought energy that is flowing. They attempt to alter the Vibe of the room to match the Vibe with the sacrifice this in turn enhances the sacrifice so more gift is gained from less sacrifice.

Ingredients that are not part of creating atmosphere or meaning are may be focusing because they have some unique property that manipulates the Weave. This is done by the ingredient release or absorb energy, rearrange or change the flow, and/or draw out or in energy. For example an ingredient filled with abyss energy may draw out and/or rearrange the surrounding Weave to be filled with more Abyss or Black Energy (magic) enhancing the gift given by The Weave so that more gift is gained from less sacrifice.

Geometric Shapes, Sigils, and Runes make incredible powerful focuses if designed correctly. They can also help with channeling and if they are imbued with power they can even be a sacrifice as well. Geomancy is as much as an art as it is a science and to do it well requires extensive knowledge in the arts of Daoist, Hermeticism, Gnosticism, and Ritualism at the bare minimum. It is said that a great Sigil can contain focus, channel, and sacrifice for at least 15+ types of energy (magic).

They can not only act as a focus by amplifying using meaning (which is the only case in simple designs) but well designed they will amplify by controlling the flow of The Weave. Much like rocks can control the flow of a river. This is where it things can become complex. More about Geomancy is detailed further below but even then entirely other book is required. Geomancy is involved in any great or powerful ritual.

The Spectrum of Magical Mediums

While the Weave forms the core discussion of our tome, it is crucial to acknowledge the existence of other magical mediums that permeate our world, each distinct in its nature and method of interaction. These mediums, like the Weave, are essential frameworks through which practitioners channel and manipulate the mystical energies that underlie our reality.

The Weave

Traditionally recognized as the invisible, intangible fabric that interlinks all corners of the universe, the Weave is the primary conduit through which external magic is accessed. Created by the cosmic will of the entity known as Korenna, the Weave facilitates the flow of magical energy across various planes, serving as the pathway for spellcasting and magical exertion.

Aetherflow

Parallel to the Weave, the Aetherflow represents the elemental and emotional currents that course through the natural world. This medium channels the raw, untamed power of the elements—earth, air, fire, water, and ether—making it accessible to those who understand its rhythms. Aetherflow is often harnessed to perform elemental magic, from conjuring storms to calming seas.

Ancestral Vein

The Ancestral Vein taps into a more spiritual and esoteric source of power: the accumulated wisdom and life force of ancestors. It acts as a spiritual conduit, allowing practitioners to draw on the experiences and energies of those who have passed, blending these ancient forces with the user's intentions to create effects that resonate with both the past and the present.

Ancestral Vein is also typically safe but is at the whims of those who came before you and you can often be blocked or rejected if those before you do not like you. Ancestral Vein can also hurt those who came before you if improperly access. Ancestral Vein also makes you a higher target for the supernatural or ghosts.

"Fey" Ley Lines

Often referred to as the arteries of the planet, "Fey" Ley Lines are natural phenomena, channels of potent magical energy that traverse the landscape. Where the Aetherflow commands the elements, Ley Lines govern the raw magical forces that pulse beneath the earth, offering a wilder, more unpredictable source of power.

Leylines are at the whims of who controls them. Typically they are the most powerful but unpredictable source of power. Current they are controlled by the Fey making them super volatile and risky.

Tapestry

A darker reflection of the Weave, the Tapestry is imbued with the essence of manipulation and control. Created by the malevolent Endless of Horror, this medium offers formidable power at the cost of potential corruption and loss of self, favored by those who seek to dominate or influence at any price.

Tapesty similar to the Weave but more power and can lead to corruption of the soul or manipulation. It also allows the horrors to spy.

Grimoires (F-E-A)

Grimoires, ancient texts or artifacts of the F-E-A, contain bound magical knowledge and spells that predate many known civilizations. These tomes are not merely books but portals to immense magical insight, providing their wielders with unique magical abilities and arcane secrets. Magic Medium from Grimoires (which most commonly are books {but don't need to be} and a spirit, FEA) come from partnership with the FEA spirit.

( Similar to how a Warlock, Paladin, or certain Clerics might be granted their power from another. )

Typically now a day Grimoires (F-E-A) are longer used as sole Medium/vehicle for magic but more so supplement the magic vehicle already used.

Internal Forces: The Essence Within

Beyond these external mediums, practitioners often tap into Internal Forces, such as Life Force, Soul Energy, and Raw Magic. These energies originate from within the practitioner and offer a more personal, intimate source of power. Life Force draws on one's vitality, Soul Energy on one's spiritual essence, and Raw Magic on the chaotic, unformed potential that exists in the voids between existence.

Use of internal magic can lead to exhaustion or damage by many.

World Tree Magic

If Ley Lines are the arteries of the planet World Tree is the arteries of all of reality spanning across most realms and planes the World Tree medium of magic is ancient, powerful, and stable but typically only accessible by those with Druidic blood and the gift to do so. Take power to cast from World Tree much like picking flower or harvesting from a plant doing so to often or too much can damage the World Tree. World Tree is a fragile naturally flowing ecosystem the slightest inbalance of the World Tree can cause problem with it and all of reality.

Said that Dryad's were and are the original care takers and protectors of the World Tree. Said that World Tree not only medium of magic but a physical space between spaces. And the only way to inter the planes between planes or the realms between realms.

Principles of Magic Across Mediums

Despite the diversity of these mediums, the foundational principles of magic—Sacrifice, Channel, and Focus—remain universally applicable. These principles dictate the exchange and manipulation of energy through any medium, though the specifics may vary. The type of sacrifice needed, the method of channeling, and the focus required can differ significantly depending on the medium employed.
