College of Violence
An orcish drummer, beating out a rhythm on his foes' shields and skulls. A fearless hunter, using her enchanted instrument to bludgeon her monstrous quarry. A scarfed vigilante whose flute creates a blade of pure radiance. A handsome barbarian who swears the blood-soaked strings are the key to his music... Bards of the College of Violence are an eclectic lot, united not by a common organization, but rather a tendency to fuel their creativity by boldly and bodily throwing themselves into the thick of the worst fighting.
Built Tough
At 3rd level, your hit point maximum increases by 3 and increases again by 1 whenever you gain a level in this class. In addition, you gain proficiency with medium armor.
Instruments of Violence
When joining the College of Violence at 3rd level, you create your first instrument of violence by modifying a musical instrument you are proficient with. You can use the instrument of violence as that musical instrument, or as a magical martial melee weapon you are proficient with, which has the two-handed property and deals bludgeoning, piercing or slashing damage (determined when created) equal to your bardic inspiration die.
You can use your instrument of violence as a spellcasting focus for your bard spells. As long as you wield it, its music helps you maintain your bard spells; You can maintain concentration on a spell even if incapacitated or prevented from concentrating by an effect such as a barbarian's rage, and when forced to make a concentration check, you can expend one use of your bardic inspiration to roll your bardic inspiration die and add it to the roll.
By spending an hour using an appropriate artisan's tool which you or a creature assisting you are proficient in, you can create a new instrument of violence by combining a musical instrument you are proficient in and a martial melee weapon which deals the chosen damage type. Once you do, the subtle magic in your old instrument of violence ceases to function. If magical items are used in its construction, the instrument of violence combines their qualities and attunement requirements.
Rhythm of War
Starting at 6th level, when you take the Attack action on your turn and hit a hostile creature with your instrument of violence, you can immediately use your bonus action to cast a bard spell with a casting time of 1 action.
