Oath of BBQ

Paladin Oath

The Oath of BBQ calls to paladins who seek to feed those in need. Paladins who swear by this oath stand by the right of all to have enough food to sustain them. They are often found in slums or regions ravaged by war setting up cooking fires and preparing food for the masses. A paladin who takes this oath often finds themselves at odds with any force that wishes to take from the needy. Many paladins who have taken this oath started as simple cooks who recognised that the root cause of hunger of their people is a selfish lord who takes too much, leading the paladin to seek an end to the injustice.

Tenets of BBQ The Tenets of BBQ drive a paladin to feed those in need and to strike down anything that stops people from having enough to eat.

Food is Life Food is the fuel of life which sustains everything.

Feed the Needy People have a right to food which sustains them. No person shall be in need.

Teach a Man to Fish Solve any problem that stands in the way of people being able to feed themselves. Whether the problem is education, environment, or injustice.

Barbecue is Art Hone not only your ability to cook for many, but to cook for satisfaction. Food is a window into the beauty of life. Inspire the world through the food you cook.

Channel Divinity

3rd-level Oath of BBQ feature

You gain the following two Channel Divinity options.

Enthralling Aroma You can use your Channel Divinity to exude the scent of delicious grilled meats and veggies waking the appetites of those nearby and making them keen for a feed. As an action, you force each creature of your choice (the creature must be something that eats food) that you can see within 30 feet of you to make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, a creature becomes charmed for 1 minute. The charmed creature can repeat this saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.

Smoked Out As an action, you can use your Channel Divinity to cause a 10 ft radius of magical smoke to manifest centered on you. Creatures outside the smoke treat anyone within the smoke as Lightly Obscured and in Half Cover. Creatures within the smoke are unaffected. The smoke lasts for 1 minute and requires concentration to maintain.

Aura of Mutual Satisfaction

7th-level Oath of BBQ feature

Starting at 7th level while you’re not incapacitated, half of any health you gain via magical healing is also given as temporary health to friendly creatures within 10 feet of the paladin.

Additionally, eating food within 10 feet of the paladin causes creatures to lose all levels of exhaustion previously gained due to starvation.

At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.

Embers

15th-level Oath of BBQ feature

You scatter hot embers beneath the feet of your foes as a reaction when they attempt to enter or exit your melee range. The creature must make a Dexterity saving throw or take 1d12 fire damage as glowing embers are scattered beneath their feet. The space also becomes difficult terrain until the end of your next turn.

Pit Master

20th-level Oath of BBQ feature

You channel your experience with barbecues, heat, and sizzling food to become the ultimate pit master. You can use an action to gain the following benefits for 1 hour:

  • You summon two elemental servants to help you. Choose two of any combination of Earth, Fire, Water, or Air Elementals. The elementals function like the Conjure Elemental spell except they remain for as long as the Pit Master feature is active, you can’t lose concentration, and you can’t lose control of them.
  • You gain resistance to fire damage.
  • Your weapon attacks do additional fire damage equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1).

Once you use this feature you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
