Those that take the Path of the Battlerager specialize in wearing bulky, spiked armor and throwing themselves into combat, striking with their body and giving themselves over to the fury of battle. A warrior whose combat style relies on raw instinct, anger, and physical strength. The individuals who practiced this type of fighting were usually seen as mentally unstable with a low life expectancy. Within the Forgotten Realms, in Dwarvish they are known as Kuldjargh (literally "axe idiot"). This small group of dwarven battleragers are often followers of the gods of war.
> #### Note: > While wearing spiked armor, you can choose your Armor Class calculation between Unarmored Defense and spiked armor, but you still have disadvantage to stealth either way. #### Battlerager Armor When you choose this path at 3rd level, you can craft or modify some medium armor into spiked armor. You gain the ability to use spiked armor as a weapon you are proficient with. While you are wearing spiked armor and raging, you can use the Attack action or a Bonus Action to make one melee weapon attack with your armor spikes against a target within 5 feet of you. If the attack hits, the spikes deal 1d6 piercing damage. (Strength modifiers and Raging damage bonus still apply.) Additionally, when you use the Attack action to grapple a creature, the target takes 1d4 piercing damage if your grapple check succeeds and again at the start of each turn which the grapple continues. > #### Note: > * You can grapple while holding a two-handed weapon, but you cannot attack with it. #### Reckless Abandon Beginning at 6th level, when you use Reckless Attack, you gain temporary hit points equal to your Constitution modifier (minimum of 1). If you are raging when you use Reckless Attack, you gain additional temporary hit points equal to your level. When your rage ends, any temporary hit points remaining from Reckless Abandon vanish. \columnbreak #### Spiked Retribution At 6th level, when a creature within 5 feet of you hits you with a melee attack, the attacker takes 3 piercing damage if you are raging, aren't incapacitated, and are wearing spiked armor. #### Battlerager Charge Beginning at 10th level, you can take the Dash action as a bonus action while you are raging. If you move at least 10 feet in a straight line while dashing, you can attack as part of the Dash action and gain one affect to that attack. You can either gain a +5 bonus to the attack’s damage roll or push the target up to 10 feet back. Also, at 10th level, you learn how to attack with your armor more effectively. Your Battlerager Armor attacks change from 1d6 to 2d6 and you can add your Strength modifier to your grapple attack damage. #### Provoked Grudge At 14th level, when a creature escapes your grapple while you are raging and wearing spiked armor, the creature must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, the creature takes 1d4 piercing damage. Additionally, you learn how to deflect melee attacks with your armor. Whenever you take damage from a melee attack, you can use your reaction to reduce the damage by 1d12. If you are raging while wearing spiked armor, you can reflect half the prevented damage back at the attacker as piercing damage.
