About the Ancient Spirits

This is what the DM's Guide of Manam says:

The first Luman Souls are now called the “Ancient Spirits” in text books that have been written in the recent past. It is assumed by most scholars (and players that find this information) that these spirits predate the Luman Souls that exist as species today. Some advanced scholars would find evidence that they still exist and in fact deliver most of the encounters that characters in the world experience “as gods”! They would be right to conclude that they must be eternal, because these spirits never had physical bodies; they never experienced physical death. - Section 4

To explain this further, during the forming of the first beings and animals and plants Ana produced etheric type souls made of light that didn't have a physical body. They existed in higher forms and eventually would go through great transitions but never really 'die'.

These Ancient Spirits exist everywhere through out the world in theory, but few of them have manifested as beings that embody the raw forms of magic present in the world. They could be the first magic users if you will, and have therefore learned such control over the magic that they exist as the Greatest Mages. However, because they can never embody themselves in a truly physical form to live a life, they can never be a god.

They are not made of magic itself, but are in fact a kind of soul substance. Each spirit has lived long enough to develop unique preferences, and thus has experienced a special kind of control within the higher dimensions of magic itself and this is where they exist; the Sphere's of Magic. Some say that the gods each made themselves a home and produced itself a sphere of magic to host itself. But some would argue that Ana manifested each sphere as a place to keep her first children; the eternal spirits. Of course scholars argue that the home of the gods is what this means, but truly it was a kind of collaboration with the realms first and most powerful mages to raise to godhood.

Because of their eternal existance they have experienced all of Manam's life with her ever since she become conscious of herself. They were HER first thought of: creating beings to live upon her skin, as she understood herself to be a planetary body. Slowly this idea manifested raw energy bodies of massive size as she attempted to find a kind of existance that she enjoyed and found herself creating them within and giving them life as divinely etheric thought forms. This created a longing for a way to create animals and to reach out to other Creator Gods...

Players or DMs could theorize that the Ancient Spirits are children of Ana, just like the Luman or Andu are. They could also state that perhaps they are simply the avatars of Ana? I wouldn't aregue myself, but I bet if one was to ask each spirit you would get a variety of answers. And this then, is the difference in life within each domain of magic, yes?

These spirits do not usually communicate with deities outside of their own sphere of influence in which that diety, in fact may have some influence over the spirits. Because the Spirits are the best at using the mana of their domain, it's common that the deity that rules over the sphere, adores those spirits that live and operate within it's rulership. Ancient Spirits hardly exist to do anyone's "bidding" but their own, but some spirits interact more openly to influence the world. While others are hardly manifested in a recognizable form, even to an awakened Luman.

Bluo

If you say "God" in this world, they this spirit will hear your plea and send the nearest spirit to your aid. Often Ana's prayers are sent to him, and the Spirits are allowed to answer them for her.

Sphere: Universal

Domain: all domains

Powers: He can transmute any quantum light particle into any other raw mana particle in large amounts. This is commonly what magicians use when casting forms of raw magic "from nowhere". He does this by swapping the particles from any sphere in any domain, with the quantum particle present in the dimension requiring transmutation.



Bluo

Quantum Awareness. Bluo has the ability to tap into the thoughts of anyone with 10 miles.

Quantum Mana Transmutation Abilities. He has the ability to transform any mana into any other form of mana present in Quantum Field. He is incapable of death because he is not alive.

*Bluo Manifestation. Blue can manifest his "head" as a floating crystal ball of any size. Often he will use this form to come to transmute something so that others can see it occur and effect changes to assist players. This can be interpreted as an answer to a prayer, or just as a casting of a spell. If there was a kind of "battle" with this spirit in any way, via the ball form or by name the result would be that after 5000 HP of mana he would be returned to the universal sphere and need recovery for 1d8 days in which very little mana casting would be available to the world. This is due to prayers and casters being unable to cast or receive mana through his transmutation.

Aah

Little is known or understood about this spirit. She dwells like a spirit of the waters, floating along within the streams of life and mana subtly charming those into a more balanced state according to the manifestations of Ana.

Alna

Alna ("all-nah") is one of the only spirits that openly manifests as a physical form as seen in this picture; to other spirits and even awakened Lumans.

She watches over all animal kind, including Andus and those fey creatures such as the Taurish. She adopts any fey creatures that consider themselves in any way a child or production of the Living World. She helps Ana by caring for these beings by attending to them in any way she can. Usually by influencing other animals and friendly Andu to help each other.

Command Animal or Beast.* She can communicate with any animal or beast with complete intuitive trust into controlling their intended animals next action. She can control and influence an entire heard or village of peoples in this way, but the effects are never long lasting or permanent.

Attisk

The purpose of fear in the world of Manam is to drive beings within it to and from things. Be this for the better or worse of those beings, this spirit has no care. She operates under the nightmarish things that Ana has dreamed of. She then demands that this spirit protect those areas in which she has escaped into the world, time and time again.

Attisk is said to have only one foot because she is not supposed to go far from her gates and is to cause others to fear her presense near them as to not allow other beings to enter her domain of Fear. However, Attisk presents herself as being longing for connection and attention, for someone to join her in those areas she treasures her power and influence. Those that mingle there within her domain are the creatures of nightmares, who adore her. She is said to have many hands, each representing an area in the world in which he holds the power to open doors to her abode.

Bohg

The Ancient Spirit of Bohg (b-o-og, in which the long o is extended in time when spoken correctly as if a gong is being played to ring out). This massive spirit is considered a great mage to spirits, the Luman Council, and the dragons. He is known to take forms amongst large formations of rock or stone. He often appears in areas before great dustruction is to occur, be it war or natural disasters. He can produce any effect from any spell produced in the Destruction domain, and imparts some of his own substance into the creation of these spells within the domain. In this way, each act of destruction is costing a part of Ana to be used in the process. Bohg used to relish in this power, but has over time taken so much damage from it that he loaths this eternal process of decay. Once a very amazingly beautiful entity, he has become wrecked and destroyed by the use of destructive processes of magic. At times he can be found fighting dragons with the magic forces they are using against others in the name of Ana.

Etheric. An Ancient Spirit does not possess and cannot possess a physical body, nor does it take up "physical" space or material. They are considered neither living or dead.

Manifest Shape. An Ancient Spirit can manifest in it's perfered shape, density, and appearance. It can also dematerialize, or de-manifest shape at will.

Spellcasting. An Ancient Spirit can cast spells from which domains it has access to. Each is a 9th Level Spellcaster. They can attetmpt to cast spells within the sphere of it's primary domains reside in with a 50% chance of failure.

Force Fist. Melee Weapon Attack: +17 to hit, reach 10ft., one target. Hit 5 (12d6 + 20) guess

Spell Attack. Spellsave DC: 23
