LEANDRA ALWAYS LOVED THE SEA. SHE COULD
spend hours above the cliffs looking out on its endless expanse. She felt called to it. She had always felt most comfortable here.

She heard rumors of monsters here, kidnapping and killing people by the coast. But the pull of it's infinite splendor was too great and dragged her here and over the edge.

She was never seen again.

Daughters of the Sea

Merrow are a race borne from merfolk who endured the corrupted influence of the abyss. They are, in a sense, tieflings in that regard.

Merrow are typically found deep within the worlds oceans, though merrow under the service of demons are known to prowl the surface for humanoid species to prey on. Others have been known to go inland into swamps to remain both in the water and at the surface for more effective attempts.

Bad Reputations

Not all merrow are a bane of surface dwellers. However, their reputation as demonspawn and manhunters has lead many to close their doors or hunt them down.

Merrow who do roam the surface world likely do so as adventurers, as attempting to settle anywhere is a likely cause for trouble for them. Using their terrifying size and strength to help communities is much more likely to result in acceptance.

Sired by Demons

The merrow were first created when merfolk discovered an idol of the prince of demons and were corrupted by it. However, like with all things, demonic corruption lessens with the generations.

So, while merrow conceived within the abyss remain blood-thirsty and violent, many generations later, on the Material plane, there are merrow who are much like their merfolk forebears... except 8 feet tall, monstrous and carnivorous.
