Some people can find me scary if they want to but I will make sure to always show my truest and best self."* — Belladonna, Garden Spotted Eel Medusa ___ You will notice that this file has two names. Water Medusa and Eel Triton. This was made for those that either want a new race entirely to try or to have the chance as one of the many kinds of triton that --definitely-- exist and aren't given the spotlight over the traditional Triton you are used to seeing. We hope you enjoy. ___ ## Origin Water Medusa are the gifted (or cursed) of the sea. Those that sail may be accosted by pirates, monsters, or other cruel aversaries. When those individuals would eventually fall to their demise or drown in the deeps may have a chance of finding themselves suddenly able to breathe underwater! Able to swim better than they ever have before, and able to see in the dark. They have been touched by the hand of the serpent goddess of rivers and oceans. ___ While wronged, or abused in the past, the goddess grants them with tools to help them live again in their new life. ___ ### Water Medusa Traits ___ - **Ability Score Increase.** Increase any one ability score by 2, and any one ability score by one. Or increase three ability scores by 1. - **Creature Type.** You are a Humanoid. - **Age.** Little is known about the way Water Medusa Age. They are able to have children but it is never clear how old any one given water medusa is. - **Size.** Water Medusa range from 4-6 feet on average. Taller ones are common in the deep oceans, shorter ones are common in swamps or on land. Your size is medium. - **Speed.** Your walking speed is 30 feet. - **Swim Speed.** You have a swimming speed of 30 feet. - **Darkvision.** The goddess has blessed you with eyes of the deep sea eel granting you darkvision, Seeing darkness as bright light out to a range of 60 feet and dim light out to 90 feet.. - **Amphibious.** You can breathe air and water. - **Languages.** You can speak, read, and write Common and one other language that you and your DM agree is appropriate for the character. \columnbreak ## Variations of Water Medusa ### Glass Eel Those that were given the form of a Glass Eel have had the experience of being attacked by the unknown. Whether it was an unseen adversary or becoming lost, the goddess has blessed them with the ability to remain aware of their surroundings as much as possible. - **Internal Compass.** You have an organ that is able to feel the magnetic pulls of your plane. You always know which way is north and you always know how the weather will be for the next week within a 5 mile radius circle originating at you. - **Fragile but Vigilant.** Due to your soft body, you cannot wear heavy armor. In contrast, your eel hair is all the more alert for any possible threats to you. You cannot be surprised and you gain advantage on dexterity saving throws. - **Slippery.** You can add your proficiency to acrobatics checks against being grappled. > ##### Glass Eel Players >

### Ribbon Eel When you awaken to the form of a Ribbon Eel it is often a blessing given in response to your lack of self identity or self belief. After perishing in a state of this great disbelief and unknowing, you are granted a second life where your identity is yours to - **Mesmerising Beauty.** Drawing from the beauty of your Ribbon Eel heritage, you gain a proficiency in Deception, Persuasion, Performance, or Intimidation. You gain the charm person spell which you can use once per day. The spell uses your charisma as your spell modifier. - **Ambushing Burrower.** You have a burrowing speed of 20 feet. While burrowed you exchange your Darkvision for 30 feet of tremorsense. You are able to take a long rest while burrowed. - **Changing Body.** You can spend 1 hour to change your sex and body to either appear more feminine, more masculine, a mixture of both, or non-binary. > ##### Ribbon Eel Players >
\columnbreak ### Garden Spotted Eel People blessed with the form of the Garden Spotted Eel may have been one who was kind hearted or community oriented. They are often ones who have been attacked suddenly and without preparation, making them flighty but deeply set in their love of others. - **Flighty.** You have advantage on making checks to hide while in combat and you are able to hide as a reaction. When you make a stealth check, a number of friendly creatures equal to your proficiency gain advantage to their stealth check as well this round. - **Sheepish Burrower.** You have a burrowing speed of 5 feet. You are able to take a long rest while burrowed. Once you reach 5th level you gain the spell Meld into Stone, which can be cast as a reaction and can only be cast once per long rest. - **Communal Confidence.** You can add your proficiency to rolls outside of combat if 3 or more friendly creatures are within 30 feet of you. > ##### Garden Spotted Eel Players >

### Electric Eel Those that are blessed with the form of the Electric Eel are often those that have experienced an attack from a powerful foe. This could have been a giant monster or a stronger humanoid. This makes Electric Eel Medusa solitary but terrifying. Able to withstand but also deliver severe shocks. - **Bioluminescent** You have the ability to glow in the dark as a bonus action providing bright light out to 20 feet and dim light out to 40 feet. - **Electric Field.** You lose the Darkvision feature and instead gain this feature. You have 30 feet of blindsense. - **Electricity Affinity.** You are resistant to lightning damage and you gain the shocking grasp cantrip that can be used once per short rest. > ##### Electric Eel Players >
\columnbreak ### Moray Eel Triton The Eel Triton are those that guard the sea gates to the Elemental Plane of water. Staying ever vigilant against the forces that exist from beyond the portal. Since they are often solitary they lose a bit of the charismatic side of Tritons, trading it for better abilities in defending the gates. - **Darkvision.** You gain the ability to see in the dark. Seeing darkness as bright light out to a range of 60 feet and dim light out to 90 feet. -Replaces Emissary of the Sea - **Vicious Bite.** When you would succeed a grappling check, you may bite down onto your adversary, dealing 1d4 + your strength modifier piercing damage to them. Attacks made against creatures you have grappled are made with advantage. - Replaces Control Air and Water ## Feats ### Coral Gaze *Prerequisite - Medusa, or Eel Medusa* ___ When a creature that can see your eyes starts its turn within 30 ft. of the you, as an action, you can force it to make a Constitution saving throw with a DC = 8 + your proficiency + your charisma modifier if the you aren't incapacitated and can see the creature. If the saving throw fails by 10 or more, the creature is instantly petrified. Otherwise, a creature that fails the save begins to turn to coral and is restrained. The restrained creature must repeat the saving throw at the end of its next turn, becoming petrified coral on a failure or ending the effect on a success. The petrification lasts for 1 minute. If you see yourself reflected on a polished surface within 30 ft. of it and in an area of bright light, you are, due to your curse, affected by your own gaze. ### Eel Hair *Prerequisite - Medusa, or Eel Medusa* ___ Your hair is able to make its own bite attack. As a Bonus Action you can make a melee attack with your hair using your dexterity modifier. Your hair deals 1d4 piercing damage plus your proficiency modifier d6 poison damage.
