Gargoyles

Gargoyles are often mistaken for mere stone sculptures, perched atop ancient buildings and cathedrals. Their origin is shrouded in mystery; some legends assert that they were created by ancient magicians to protect sacred sites, while others believe they are the petrified remnants of a long-forgotten race cursed by deities. When dormant, they closely resemble intricately carved statues of grotesque creatures – a blend of various animals and sometimes humanoid features. Their stone-like exterior, however, is merely a façade. Once animated, their eyes glow with an eerie luminescence, revealing the sentient being within.
