College of Archaeology

Some Bards long for the days of old, when learning was more hands on. These Bards revel in exploration and danger, and thrive in scenarios that would make those of the other Bard Colleges run in fear. An archaeologist is most home in the crypts of civilizations long past, or the tombs of a forgotten lich. After all, the best learning doesn't happen in the walls of some college, it happens out there in the real world.

Bonus Proficiencies

When you join the College of Archaeology at level 3, you gain proficiency in the History and Acrobatics skill. You may also use any tools you are proficient in as a spellcasting focus.

In addition, you learn the Mage Hand cantrip if you do not already know it.

Quick Thinking

At the 3rd level, you have learned to be quick on your feet, especially when it matters most. You may expend one use of your bardic inspiration before rolling for a skill check. You can do this one time per long rest, regardless of the number of bardic inspiration die you have left.

In combat, you can also expend one use of your Bardic Inspiration on yourself. When you do this, a number of allies equal to your Charisma modifier get a +1 to attack rolls and saving throws until the end of your next turn.

Trained Eye

Your time spent in dangerous caverns and tunnels has trained you to be on the lookout for anything that might be out of the ordinary.

At the 6th level you gain a +5 passive perception when detecting traps. You have advantage on rolling to disarm any trap that you find untriggered.

In addition, upon triggering a trap your quick wits allow you to attempt to roll to disarm the trap before it is triggered.

Fortune's Favored

Your time spent with rare artifacts allows you to use artifacts that are not meant for you. Starting at the 14th level, you ignore all class, race, and level requirements on the use of magic items.

In addition, your time hoarding treasure has allows you to halve the gold requirement for any spells that you cast.
