Warlock Otherworldly Patron: Ancient Dragon
Ancient dragons are near-timeless entities, whose ambitions range from world-ending to world-preserving. Such machinations often require a vast network of mortal servitors to extend the dragon’s reach, spread its influence, or add to its hoard, and these minions might occasionally require a little magical enhancement. These warlocks are bequeathed (or loaned) items from their patron’s hoard, which both confer a fraction of the dragon’s power and allow it to keep an eye on its servant’s endeavours.

Draconic Emissary
1st-level Ancient Dragon feature
Your patron subtly marks you as an agent of dragonkind. You learn to speak, read, and write Draconic. If you already know the language, you may choose one other to learn instead.
Draconic Patronage
1st-level Ancient Dragon feature
You must choose the type of dragon which has bestowed its gifts upon you. As a bonus action on your turn, you manifest its power, and this manifestation lasts for 1 minute or until you choose to end it as a bonus action, or until you are incapacitated or die. When you begin the manifestation, you gain a number of temporary hit points equal to your Charisma modifier plus your Warlock level, and you might display cosmetic features such as illusory wings, creeping scales, or fiery veins. For the duration, you gain an additional benefit based on your chosen patron:
- Chromatic Patronage. Your patron is a black, blue, green, red, or white dragon; choose a damage type from the following list: acid, lightning, poison, fire, or cold. When you cast a Warlock spell or cantrip which deals damage of a different type, you may choose to replace the spell’s damage with the chosen type.
- Gem Patronage. Your patron is an amethyst, crystal, emerald, sapphire, or topaz dragon. You gain a flying (hover) speed of 15 feet.
- Metallic Patronage. Your patron is a brass, bronze, copper, gold, or silver dragon; choose a damage type from the following list: fire, lightning, acid, or cold. You gain resistance to the chosen damage type.
Once you have manifested your Draconic Patronage, you cannot do so again until you complete a short or long rest, unless you expend a spell slot of any level to reactivate it earlier.
At 14th level, the duration of the manifestation is extended to 1 hour.
Breath of the Dragon
6th-level Ancient Dragon feature
You draw upon the power of your patron, even when the source is indirect. When you suffer damage of a certain type, you may use your reaction to regain an expended Warlock spell slot. You may use this ability once, and you regain its use when you finish a long rest. At 14th level, you can use this ability twice between rests instead.
If you chose Chromatic or Metallic for your Draconic Patronage, the damage type is the same as the type you chose for that feature. If you chose Gem, you must choose a damage type from the following list: force, radiant, psychic, thunder, or necrotic.
Hoard Sense
10th-level Ancient Dragon feature
You may cast the locate object spell at will. You may also cast locate creature once with this feature without expending a spell slot or requiring material components, and you regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest.
When you cast either spell, you may choose the centre for the spell’s radius to be either yourself or one of your patron’s lairs on the same plane of existence as you.
Gift of the Hoard
14th-level Ancient Dragon feature
Your patron spoils you with treasure from its hoard to increase your power; you gain an additional Pact Boon as per the 3rd-level Warlock feature. When you gain this feature, you may choose to replace any Eldritch Invocations of your choice, rather than the customary one-per-level-up.
