Slimefolk
Amorphous yet Stable
Slimefolk are, for lack of a better word, blobs. However, unlike the more primal oozes, they can hold together a shape. They normally make themselves look like that of other intelligent creatures arund them. Humans, gnomes, dwarves, elves, and so on. They're very good at keeping these forms together, and only ever lose them when being knocked out.
They almost always end up a color associated with whatever they're made of. Water based slime folk are clearer, almost a blue color, while blood based slimefolk are crimson red, and so on.
True Sentience
Very much unlike most oozes, slimefolk are intelligent and sentient. Even if they may seem like your typical slime, they are certainly not monsters. However, that doesn't stop some people from viewing them as such.
Despite their clear sentience, they are often likened to mindless creatures. This is a constant struggle for just about any slimefolk, and they'll usually try to blend in by using clothing that hides their features, or even just trying to look as humanoid as possible. Still, in recent times, there has been pushback against those that would deem any sentient creature monstrous from a glance.
Living Among Others
There aren't really any slimefolk specific communities. While there may be areas of a city, or a small village founded exclusively by slimefolk, most typically live either alone or among other races. Whether this be within their cities, as circus performers, founding members of a village, or even among a king's royal advisors, they fill whatever role they can in society.
Slimefolk and Gender
Slimefolk don't have any identifiable sex, they mainly just reproduce asexually. However, when they take on humanoid forms, they also tend to take on a form that is most in line with how they feel. As they almost always grow up around societies that have a concept of gender, they typically choose between a male-presentinf form, and a female-presenting one. Though there are plenty of cases of androgynous forms being taken, instead.
Slimefolk Names
As they typically don't have their own communities, they'll often take on the names given to them by those around them. These can be normal names for such a community, such as elven names while living with elves, or it can be nicknames denoting the appearance and character of a slimefolk.
