Bard - College of the Happy Mask Salesmen
Reflecting back on one of my favorite franchises "The Legend of Zelda", leaves a lot of room for how one can interpret their favorite hero into D&D. Well if you're old as all shit like me (i.e. born in the 90s) then there is a chance that Majora's Mask may be one of the ones that really left an impact. By using bard as the base for our hero this will take a look at probably one of his most original power sets of utilizing masks to accomplish his goals.
Bonus Proficiencies
As salesman of many masks, you may find yourself selling your wares to clients in highly dangerous places. Starting at 3rd level, when you join the College of the Happy Mask Salesmen you gain proficiency with medium armor and shields. This way you can always properly protect yourself and deliver your goods with a smile.
The Basic Mask Package
What kind of salesman could you be if you couldn't properly demonstrate to you customers just how wonderful these masks can be. Starting at 3rd level you can start demonstrating how great these masks are by wearing them yourself! Right off the bat you have access to 1 mask from the basic mask catalog (listed at the end of this subclass). Each time you gain a level in this class you can choose to replace the mask you own with a different one from this feature. When you reach 6th level you can have up to 2 masks, and at 10th level you can have up to 3 masks.
You may only wear one mask at a time and you may use a bonus action to swap between masks. Each of these masks has a passive benefit and an active benefit. You may continue to use the passive benefit as long as you are wearing the mask. However, once the active benefit is used, it recharges upon the specified rest.
The Basic Mask Catalog
Great Fairy's Mask
This mask emulates the extravagant beauty and magical power of one of the Great Fairies! While wearing this beautiful face with its long flowing, shimmering pink hair, the wearer gains advantage on Persuasion and Arcana checks.
Also, as an action you can call forth a mystical fountain and evoke healing energy that can restore a number of hit points equal to five times your bonus level. Choose any creatures within 30 feet of you, and divide those hit points among them. This feature can restore a creature to no more than half of its hit point maximum. Once you use this ability you can't do so again until you finish a short or long rest.
Bremen Mask / Don Gero's Mask
These masks emulate the fine qualities of leader to the point where even some animals will march and sing along with you! Wearing one of these grants you an animal like visage, and you gain advantage on Animal Handling and Performance checks.
Also, when you use your bonus action to grant a creature one of your Bardic Inspirations you can use your action to grant another creature a Bardic Inspiration without expending the extra cost. Once you use this ability you can't do so again until you finish a long rest.
Bunny Hood / Postman's Hat
Sometimes one just has to get to places quickly. Wearing these masks allow one face any weather and reach their destination in a timely manner. While wearing one of these items your movement speed increases by 10 ft and you have advantage on Survival checks.
Also, you can use your bonus action to disengage or dash. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per short or long rest.
Mask of Truth
Wearing this mask the truth can't hide from you as your gaze pierces through any obscuring veil. While wearing this mask your unsettling gaze grants you advantage on Insight and Investigation checks.
Also, as an action you can give yourself the ability to see through illusions and invisibility for 10 minutes. Once you use this ability you can't do so till you finish a long rest.
Stone Mask / Keaton Mask
Wearing these masks make you hard to spot in even the most obvious of places. With this you have advantage on Stealth and Sleight of Hand checks.
Also, as an action you can cast Pass Without Trace without expending a spell slot. Once you use this ability you can't do so until you complete a long rest.
Captain's Hat / Garo's Mask
Wearing these masks you stand as a striking reminder to the bloody history of this world. You have advantage on History and Intimidation checks.
Also, as an action, you can command the undead to dance! Each undead that can see or hear you within 30 feet of you must make a Wisdom saving throw. If the creature fails its saving throw, it begins dancing for 1 minute.
While dancing in this way, the creature is considered to have a speed of 0 and is incapacitated, as it cannot do anything but dance in place. The creature repeats the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on a success. Once you use this ability you can't do so until you complete a long rest.
All-Night Mask
While wearing this mask sleep becomes impossible for you. You no longer need to sleep while wearing this mask to gain the benefits of a long rest. In addition, you gain dark vision with a range of 60 ft. If you already have dark vision then the range is increased to 120 ft.
Also, as an action you can cast Darkness without expending a spell slot. Once you use this ability you can't do so until you complete a long rest.
