# Blood Kitsune ## ***When the fox-god Raikari was slain, her innards were torn open with iron and spread across the earthen tundra to be purified. They thought her madness would die in her drying blood. They didn't realize that her ravenous hunger would carry on in her children, and her children's childen. On and on. A curse that would survive into the new age.*** ## ### Background * Blood Kitsune can trace their origins back to the fox-god Raikari, third in the triptych of kitsune gods. She gained power through eating other sentient beings, mainly through ingesting their blood. * Because of this, her mortal descendants are all born with a dependence on ingesting blood to sustain their diet, lest they starve. Or worse, they fall prey to the more negative aspects of their lineage. ### Appearance * Like normal kitsune, most bear the resemblance of their non-kitsune parent with secondary traits linking back to their other lineage; i.e ears and/or tails. * **Hair:** Can be any color but will always have some sort of underlying reddish hues. These reds will be brought out the hungrier the kitsune is. * **Eyes:** Any color, but hunger will bring out reds/yellows/oranges. ### Racial Traits * **Ability Score Increase**: +2 Dexterity +1 Charisma * **Size:** Medium. * **Speed:** 30 feet. * **Darkvision:** Due to hunting at night you have superior vision in the dark. You can see dim light within 60 feet of you as bright light and in darkness as if it was in dim light. You can't descern color in darkness, only shades of grey. * **Kitsune shapeshift:** Once per day as an action, you can assume the appearance of a specific single humanoid form, hiding your ears and tails. In order for anyone to see your true nature, they have to succeed on an Investigation check with a DC 8+your Deception modifier. * **Tails:** You have a number of tails equal to the highest level spell you can cast (minimum of 1). Agile: You gain proficiency in Acrobatics. * **Kitsune Magic:** You can learn the cantrips; Dancing Lights, Minor Illusion, and Vicious Mockery. Charisma is the spellcasting ability for these spells. * **Languages:** Kitsunes can speak Common, and one other language of the player's choice. ### Desire to Feed * Blood is an integral part of the diet, not only to stay full but to ward off one's more animalistic nature. * Diet can be supplemented mostly through fresh caught animal meat (cooking optional), BUT **Feeding off a fellow sentient creature is required every 3-5 days depending on activity level.** * Blood will always smell like the sweetest meal to a blood kitsune. This can lead to...complication. * Feeding on a sentient being also has a chance of absorbing some of their memories. Rolling above a 5 on a d10 will give the kitsune a randomly picked ability from the victim. This ability shall be retained for 24 hours. ### Blood Hunger * Blood hunger is when the kitsune's cravings begin to take control, dominating their will. The only thing on their mind becomes the all-consuming urge to feed on whatever and whoever possible until they are sated. * Usually transpires when the kistune has gone 5 days or more without feeding. * During Blood Hunger, player will have to make a charisma saving throw of 14 or higher every 6 in-game hours until they are able to feed. *On a failed save, they will turn into a Ravenous Beast. ___ \pagebreakNum ### Ravenous Beast * The kitsune has a beast form they can turn into, either accidentally or on purpose, but due their curse, changing back is the hard part. * **Beast Form:** The kitsune transforms into a large fox-like beast with long claws and a maw full of razor sharp gnashing teeth. * **Beastial Mind**: Primordial instincts take over, making it hard to think. -5 Int, disadv. on all Int. rolls. * **Multi-attack:** can attack twice in one turn. * **Speed:** 60 feet * **Climbing Speed**: 30 feet * **Fierce Claws:** 2d4+2 dmg. Lost health will be added to the kitsune's HP. * If in beast form and suffering from Blood Hunger, player will need to make a WIS 16 throw as to not auto-attack friendlies. * Return to Form: will need to make a WIS 13 save to return to humanoid form. WIS 16 if hungered.
