# Kobold Commonly called cowardly and stupid, Kobolds are often treated with disrepect. This couldn't be further from the truth. Kobolds are quick and inventive, cleverly building traps designed for medium-sized creatures. They have a eye for stone, able to tell what walls to dig through easily, and without collapsing the den. ## Aquatic Kobolds Some kobold clans made their home by the sea, and have long since adapted to the water. Growing crests, gills, and matching scales, these kobolds blend in with the water. Often mistaken for Lizardfolk, they retain the clever and quick-footed nature of Kobolds, retaining strong clan ties. They make their homes in dug-out, cliffside caves. ### Watery Dens Aquatic Kobolds make good use out of their half-submerged homes. Entrances and exits are small, underwater tunnels that they are uniquely suited for. Usually, medium-sized creatures cannot get through, and even smaller ones lack the hydrodynamics needed to navigate through such a tight space. This keeps unwanted humanoids and predators out, who often prey upon Kobold eggs.
The hatching rooms of a den will be completely submerged, to assist the newborns out of their egg, as will the sleeping rooms. Much like Lizardfolk, aquatic Kobold prefer to sleep underwater. #### Aquatic Kobold Traits **Swimmer (Replaces Tunneler):** You gain a swimming speed equal to your walking speed.
