Pact Boons Expanded

Pact Boon Options

3rd-level warlock feature

When you choose your Pact Boon feature, the following options are available to you.

Pact of the Aegis
You can use your action to create a pact aegis. You can create it in a free hand or already donned on you. You are proficient with it while you wear it.

Your pact aegis disappears if it is more than 5 feet away from you for 1 minute or more. It also disappears if you use this feature again, if you dismiss the armor (no action required), or if you die.

You can transform one piece of magic armor into your pact aegis by performing a special ritual while you hold the item. You perform the ritual over the course of 1 hour, which can be done during a short rest. You can then dismiss the armor, shunting it into an extradimensional space, and it appears whenever you create your pact aegis thereafter. The armor ceases being your pact aegis if you die, if you perform the 1-hour ritual on a different item, or if you use a 1-hour ritual to break your bond to it. The armor appears at your feet if it is in the extradimensional space when the bond breaks.

Pact of the Mask
Your patron gives you a mask called the Veil of Shadows. You can take a bonus action to don or doff the mask. While the mask is donned, you can cause your voice to boom up to three times as loud as normal and alter you speech patterns, pitch, and accent.

In addition, when you make a Charisma check, you can treat a d20 roll of 9 or lower as a 10. You can wait until after you roll the d20 before deciding to use this feature, but must decide before the outcome is determined. This feature can be used a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and all expended uses are restored when you finish a long rest.

If you lose your Veil of Shadows, you can perform a 1-hour ceremony to receive a replacement from your patron. This ceremony can be performed during a short or long rest, and it destroys the previous mask. The mask turns to ash when you die.

Pact of the Scepter
You can use your action to create a pact scepter in your empty hand. You can use the scepter as a spellcasting focus for your warlock spells.

In addition, you can regain 1 warlock spell slot as an action while holding the scepter. You can't use this feature again until you finish a long rest.

Your pact scepter disappears if it is more than 5 feet away from you for 1 minute or more. It also disappears if you use this feature again, if you dismiss the item (no action required), or if you die.

You can transform one magic wand, staff, or rod into your pact scepter by performing a special ritual while you hold the item. You perform the ritual over the course of 1 hour, which can be done during a short rest. You can then dismiss the item, shunting it into an extradimensional space, and it appears whenever you create your pact scepter thereafter. The item ceases being your pact scepter if you die, if you perform the 1-hour ritual on a different item, or if you use a 1-hour ritual to break your bond to it. The item appears at your feet if it is in the extradimensional space when the bond breaks.

Additional Eldritch Invocations

Improved Pact Aegis
Prerequisite: Pact of the Aegis feature
For your pact aegis, you may use your Charisma score in place of your Strength score for the Strength prerequisite of heavy armor.

In addition, while wearing the armor, you have a +1 bonus to AC, unless it is a magic item that already gives you that bonus.

Aegis of Mirrors
Prerequisite: 5th level, Pact of the Aegis feature
While you are wearing your pact aegis, when an attacker that you can see hits you with an attack, you can use your reaction to halve the attack’s damage against you. The attacking creature then takes force damage equal to the damage you took.

Once you use this invocation, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest, unless you expend a warlock spell slot to use it again.

Supernatural Ward
Prerequisite: 7th level, Pact of the Aegis feature
While you are wearing your pact aegis, you have resistance to damage from spells and other magical effects.

When you speak, you may choose any number of creatures that can hear you. Those creatures can understand your speech as normal, and all other creatures hear your words as unintelligible gibberish.

In addition, no matter what you say, magic that would determine if you are telling the truth indicates you are being truthful if you so choose, and you can't be compelled to tell the truth by magic.

Unworldly Insight
Prerequisite: 7th level, Pact of the Mask feature
If you spend at least 1 minute observing or interacting with another creature outside combat, you can learn certain information about its capabilities compared to your own.

  • Intelligence score
  • Wisdom score
  • Charisma score

  • Warlock class levels (if any)

Invasive Influence

Improved Pact Scepter
Prerequisite: Pact of the Scepter feature
While you are wielding your pact scepter, you can ignore the cost of material components to cast a spell so long as the component is not consumed by the spell.

In addition, while holding the scepter, you gain a +1 bonus to spell attack rolls and to the saving throw DCs of your warlock spells, unless it is a magic item that already gives you those bonuses.

Prerequisite: 7th level, Pact of the Scepter feature
While wielding your pact scepter, when you cast a warlock spell, you can choose to have that spell ignore damage resistances.

This feature can be used a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and all expended uses are restored when you finish a long rest.

Occult Rupture
Prerequisite: 12th level, Pact of the Scepter feature
While wielding your pact scepter, when you roll damage for a warlock spell of 1st level or higher, if the maximum value on any of the dice are rolled, roll those dice again and add their total to the damage roll. Rerolled dice may also be rolled again in this manner if their maximum value is rolled.
