Innate Spellcasting (Sorcerer Exclusive)

This form of spellcasting that's usually restricted to npcs, which doesn't make sense to me when it comes to certain cases like the sorcerer which supposedly has innate ability to cast spells but has to use basic spellcasting for their innate talent. I understand from a balance stand point that you might not want to deal with a player that can just cast fireball a bunch more than everyone else. But more specifically, this is for the sorcerer and the sorcerer only.

If you want to make spell slots with sorcery points, you can't for this form of spellcasting. If you use a Metamagic that scales with spells like Twinned Spell, then it scales with the level that the spell itself comes from instead.

Innate Spellcasting

An event in your past, or in the life of a parent or ancestor, left an indelible mark on you, infusing you with innate magic. This font of magic, whatever its origin, fuels your spells. Spells that you cast with this feature, do not require material components or an arcane focus. See chapter 10 for the general rules of spellcasting and chapter 11 for the sorcerer spell list.

Cantrips

At 1st level, you know three cantrips of your choice from the sorcerer spell list. You learn additional sorcerer cantrips of your choice at higher levels, as shown in the Cantrips Known column of the Sorcerer table.

Spells of 1st Level and Higher

You know two 1st-level spells of your choice from the sorcerer spell list. If a sorcerer spell requires concentration, it doesn't require an arcane focus.

The Sorcerer table shows you how many of each type of spell you know. At-will spells can be used infinitely, 3-use spells can be used 3 times each, 2-use spells can be used twice each, and 1-use spells can be used once each. You recover all expended spells uses upon finishing a long rest.

The number of uses a spell can have is limited by its level. An at-will spell can be of 1st and 2nd level, a 3-use spell can be of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd level, a 2-use spell can be of 3rd, 4th, and 5th level, and 1-use spells can be of 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th level.

Spells of 6th level and higher have a bit of a restriction on them. When you learn 1-use spells, you can learn up to two different 6th and 7th level spells at most, or one 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th level spells.

No spell that you know can ever be of a level higher than your current maximum spell level, as shown in the Sorcerer table. Limited use spells are always cast at their lowest possible level.

Additionally, when you finish a long rest, you can choose one of the sorcerer spells you know and replace it with another spell from the sorcerer spell list, which must be of the same number of uses as the one you replace, and can't be of a higher level than your maximum spell level.

This is not "balanced"

If you came here looking for "balanced" version of player Innate Spellcasting, then this is as close as you'll get. But unfortunately, that's not entirely possible with spells like fireball, cause those are extra powerful. If you're playing a specific character, then cool, this is for you. But this was just kinda made because I could.

Innate Spellcasting and Multiclassing

Does the Class being multiclasses into have spellcasting?

It won't mix with the other spells, and you must use that classes spell slots to cast those spells.

Does the Class being multiclassed into not have spellcasting?

Go on ahead, no problems should arise.
