Versatile Fighting

Fighting Style

You adopt a particular style of fighting as your specialty. Choose one of the following options. You can't take a Fighting Style option more than once, even if you later get to choose again.

Versatile Fighter

When you make a one-handed melee attack, you gain a +1 to attack rolls; and when you make a two-handed melee attack, you gain a +1 to damage rolls.

Additionally, when you wield a weapon with the Versatile property, and are using no other weapon or shield, you gain a +1 bonus to AC.

Feats

A feat represents a talent or an area of expertise that gives a character special capabilities. It embodies training, experience, and abilities beyond what a class provides.

Versatile Weapon Master

You have extensively trained in wielding a weapon both one-handed and two-handed. You gain the following benefits if you are wielding a versatile weapon, and no other weapon:

  • When you make a two-handed melee attack with a versatile weapon and miss, you can make a one-handed attack against the same creature. You don’t add your ability modifier to the damage of the bonus attack, unless that modifier is negative.
  • When a creature misses you with an attack, you can use your reaction to attempt to shove, or grapple that creature if it is within reach.
Optional Rule

If you are using the optional disarm rules, you may also use your reaction to attempt to disarm the creature within range.
