Apocalypse Imps
When one travels to the Nine Hells, one may commonly spot what appears to be swarms of fireflies streaking across the hellish skies. However, these "fireflies" are most likely a swarm of apocalypse imps. The low-ranking devils are considered to be a primitive form of imp. Their bodies resemble living flames as their essence is forged from raw souls that have been infused with hellfire.
Infernal pets
Many high-ranking fiends enjoy using portions of their soul collection to create these hellish creatures. Not only are they seen as a status of wealth within the infernal hierarchy, they are also tremendously loyal and surprisingly effective combatants when deployed in small swarms. In fact, many infernal invasions are actually preluded by enormous swarms of these fiends that light up the skies will thousands of burning motes of light.
Explosive Minions
Although apocalypse imps pose a very little threat by itself, they can be extremely dangerous when in groups. Due to their burning wings, they are able to create a burning path that scorches anything that gets too close. When deployed in a writhing swarm, these imps transform into a cruel cage of hellfire that immolates trapped creatures. To make matters worse, when the apocalypse imp dies, it explodes in a tiny burst of hellfire. Again, this ability becomes exponentially more potent when deployed in large groups.
