Boitatá
The Boitatá's stench is rumoured to be so intense, that a sniff of it causes the mind to conjure a dark and ceaseless whisper. Though not supernatural, the Boitatá's stench is so deadly that the mind can only reel in reaction, creating phantasms and hallucinations in order to cope and warn itself. Those who do not flee are also never found.
Making its home in swamps and polluted lakes, the Boitatá lurks under the surface of the water or deep in the muck, remaining unseen until its prey happens to pass by. It silently slithers towards it and wraps itself around its torso before biting its teeth in its flesh, polluting it with its poison.
A sample has yet to be taken to any knowledgeable mage that can determine the Boitatá's origins or nature. Any part cut off turns into sludge within hours, its stench even more unbearable than when it was alive. The arrival of a single Boitatá in the region of a settlement is enough to throw its ecosystem out of balance, as all kind of natural populations turn tail and run.
Priests in worship of dark forces such as plague and corruption are rumoured to be responsible for the Boitatá's creation. Others say that these priests have instead found the Boitatá and adopted it as their pet and trusted familiar, a symbol of their worship in hideous flesh, while others believe that Boitatás are the souls of these dark individuals, who could not pass into the next life but were instead reincarnated as their true form.

Amphibious. The boitatá can breathe air and water.
Stench. Any creature that starts its turn within 10 feet of the boitatá must succeed on a DC 14 Constitution saving throw or be poisoned until the start of its next turn. A creature that is restrained by the boitatá has disadvantage on this saving throw. On a successful saving throw, the creature is immune to the boitatá's stench for 24 hours.
Actions
Multiattack. The boitatá makes a bite attack and a constrict attack.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d8 + 3) piercing damage, plus 7 (2d6) poison damage or 14 (4d6) poison damage if the creature is poisoned.
Constrict. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d8 + 3) piercing damage, and the target is grappled (escape DC 14). Until this grapple ends, the creature is restrained, and the snake can't constrict another target.
Poison Breath (Recharge 5–6). The boitatá exhales poison in a 30-foot cone in a direction of its choice. Each creature in the area must succeed on a DC 14 Constitution saving throw or take 28 (8d6) poison damage, or half as much damage on a success. On a failure, the creature is also poisoned until the end of its next turn.
