Moon Hag

Moon hags are ancient fey that dwell in the moonlit forests found deep within the Feywild. Moon hags have a deep connection with the moon as they believe it is the source of their magic. Through lunar magic, they are blessed with the ability to change their form, see through many forms of magical illusion and transformation, and even harness the power of raw moonlight.

Vain Shapechangers

In comparison to the rest of their kind, moon hags are considered to be are quite unnerving due to their otherworldly grace but monstrous appearance. In fact, moon hags are quite notorious for being extremely vain creatures that believe they are superior to lesser races. They have a particular disdain for other shapechangers such as various fey and therianthropes and will use their lunar magic to put their rivals in their proper place.

Moonlit Sanctuary

Moon hags prefer to remain in their moonlit sanctuaries where they can commune with the moon with no interruptions. In the rare instance that they do leave their abode, they prefer to assume a polymorphed form so they can travel abroad freely. Some moon hags have also been known to travel on extended excursions throughout the surrounding region to learn about new events from nearby civilizations. These hags have also been known to travel on long pilgrimages to sacred sites wherein entire moon hag covens perform powerful rites or incantations on lunar events.

Moon Hag Tactics

In combat, moon hags are powerful spellcasters that are the most effective when they are able to fight on their own terms. If in an unfavorable situation, a moon hag will not hesitate to turn invisible in order to allow itself to regroup and formulate a proper counterattack. Their greatest strength lies within their mastery of magical moonlight. This form of magic is especially effective against enemies that frequently rely on shapeshifting and illusion based magics such as druids and wizards.

Lunar Hex

The moon hags signature favored tactic is utilizing a special form of magic known as a Lunar Hex. This hex brands the target with moonlit magic that makes it impossible for the creature to evade the sight of its enemies. Secondly, they are also shrouded in a cloud of moondust that bursts in a silvery light whenever the target is struck with an attack.
