College of the Pyrophage

Bards trained under the teachings of the College of the Pyrophage are versed in the safe ingestion and egestion of searing fire. Entranced by the shapes that dance within the flames, these bards are more broadly known as fire eaters, which is the act they are most associated with; though their repertoire often includes any feat that involves fire. Given this, such bards are typically flamboyant and passionate, believing that it is best to burn bright in order to distinguish themselves.

Pyrophage Magic

At 3rd level, your heightened attunement to fire alters your understanding of the arcane and allows you to weave burning destruction into your magic. Whenever you gain a bard level, you can replace one of the spells that you would learn with any spell that deals fire damage. You can also replace one spell you already know with another spell of the same level. The new spell must deal fire damage.

You also learn the Control Flames, Create Bonfire, Fire Bolt, or Produce Flame cantrips.

Thermal Trance

Also at 3rd level, you perform an incantation known as the Thermal Trance; sharpening your attenuation to your inner fire and bolstering your magical abilities.

As a bonus action, you can expend one use of your Bardic Inspiration to enter your Thermal Trance, which lasts for 1 minute. It ends early if you dismiss it (no action required), are incapacitated, die, or use this feature again.

While your Thermal Trance is active, you gain the following benefits:

  • You gain resistance to fire damage.
  • Your attacks and spells ignore fire resistances.
  • You gain a bonus to fire damage you deal equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1).
  • When you roll a 1 or 2 on a damage die that deals fire damage, you can reroll the die and must use the new roll, even if the new roll is a 1 or 2.

Scourging Flame

At 6th level, you can cause your inner fire to erupt into a roaring inferno. When you make a damage roll to deal fire damage, you can forgo rolling the dice to get maximum on the dice instead. This damage ignores fire resistances and immunities.

Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.

Hearts Ablaze

At 14th level, you learn to extend the benefits of your Thermal Trance to your allies. When you enter your Thermal Trance, each creature of your choice within 60 feet of you that can see or hear you also gains the benefits of your Thermal Trance. Additionally, whenever a creature benefiting from your Thermal Trance rolls to deal damage, they can choose to deal fire damage instead.

Eclipsing Fire

Also at 14th level, your attacks and spells now ignore fire resistances and immunities while in your Thermal Trance. This benefit does not extend to creatures you designate with Hearts Ablaze.
