Monk Tradition

Way of the Wrathful

Monks who follow the Way of the Wrathful are far from their stoic brethren who pursue enlightenment or some other fundamental truths about the world. Instead, monks who tread this path are driven by their own anger to hone their bodies into the perfect weapon. While they are few in number, these monks lay their foes low through fury filled strikes.

Wrathful Stance

Starting at 3rd level, you learn to channel your rage and frustration into your stance. As a bonus action, you can spend 1 ki point to enter your Wrathful Stance. This stance lasts for 10 minutes. You can use your bonus action to end the stance early. It also ends if you are incapacitated, die, or use this feature again. While in your Wrathful Stance, your martial arts die increases by one step, for example a d4 would become a d6.

Like Water

At 6th level, you also learn how to channel your inner calm to ward against attacks. While you are in your Wrathful Stance, you gain a new reaction. When you take damage, you can use your reaction to reduce the damage by an amount equal to a roll of your martial arts die plus your Wisdom modifier.

You can use this ability a number of times equal to half your proficiency bonus (rounding down), and you regain all expended uses whenever you enter your Wrathful Stance.

Breathe Deep

At 11th level, you learn to take a moment to consider before entering your Wrathful Stance, marking vulnerabilities in your foes. When you enter your Wrathful Stance, you can spend 4 additional ki points. If you do, while you are in your Wrathful Stance, your unarmed strikes deal additional damage equal to your proficiency bonus.

Fury Unbound

At 17th level, you learn to let your anger engulf you where your composure fails you. When you enter your Wrathful Stance, you can spend 5 additional ki points. If you do, while you are in your Wrathful Stance, when you hit a creature with an unarmed strike, you can make an additional follow-up strike against the target that deals 1d4 bludgeoning damage plus your Strength or Dexterity modifier. If you used Breathe Deep, you also add your Wisdom modifier to this follow-up strike. This follow-up strike does not trigger additional follow-up strikes.
