Otherworldly Parton: The Arcane Rulers (2014)

The Arcane Rulers

Your patron are among the most powerful magic user known in the world, which has gathered a lot of arcanes secret which they give only to the worthy, among such secrets are rumors of Immortality. As you pledge your self to The Arcane Rulers you are bound to them as a Student over a servent and they teach you to better use you'r magic without any sort of magical means from an other entity that empowers you.

The rule of four that is The Arcane Rulers focus each on a different sort of study which you can follow which you as their student find intresting.

The First Arcane Secret: Empowerment

Starting at 1st level you'r Patron grants you the knowlage to empower your spells to be harder to avoid or more dangerous and an additional Invocations.

  • You can empower one spell of your choice by making it harder to miss or more dangerous by adding a +1 to attack roll or save DC of that spell, or you change the damage dice to one size bigger. you can't empower beyond a d12. You gain one an additional empowerment at 9th level, and again at 14th level.
  • You gain one Invocation which add to your total invocations by 1

The Second Arcane Secret: Secret of the Pact

Starting at the 6th level you are tought the deep secret of the pacts in turn giving you the ability to use you'r pact to the fullest.

Pact of the Chain

You able to use the power of the chain to its fullest, which improves the ability of the familier spell that is uesed with the pact of the chain.

  • You are able to summon a familier with a CR 2 and lower.
  • you able to summon a Tiny or small creature as long as they are not Humaniod, Construct or Undead
  • you able to command you'r familier with a bonus action and it dose that action after your turn.

Pact of the Blade

You gain intimate knowledge of your pact weapon which makes you able to use at the fullest to you'r ability

  • Your can have two pact weapon or one pact weapon has two forms and you are proficiency with them as long as you have the prerequisite for that weapon.
  • You gain a figthing style and you also gain an extra attack.
  • you can add the Eldritch Blast incovation to any attack you do with a pact weapon. (eldritch spear give the pact weapon reach property.)

Pact of the Talisman

Your knowledge of the talisman is more deeper, which in turn improves its power.

  • when used instead of a d4 you use a d6.
  • you can use the talismans power for Death Saves.
  • you gain uses equal to proficiency bonus plus half your Charisma modifier rounded down.

Pact of the Tome

The secret of the Book of Shadows is laid bare for you and its knowledge is up for grab.

  • you are able to pick any spell as if they where a warlock spell and you can pick 2 spells that don't count towards your spell known and can change them at a long rest.
  • you gain at 6th level one extra spell slot and one more at 18th level.
  • you gain proficiency with two Languages of your choice.

The Third Arcane Secret: World Knowledge

Starting at 10th level, you are presented with knowledge of the world which allows you to pick up to 6 new proficiency.

  • You can pick up to two new skill or pick one new skill and gain expertise in an other.
  • You also gain 4 new proficiencies in either tools, language, weapons or armors (if you meet the requirment for said proficiency).

The Last Eldritch Secret: Secret of the Arcane

Starting at 14th level, The knowledge you have accumulated are vast enough to grant you the knowledge to push an Arcane Pulse.

  • The Arcane Pulse is a pulse that centerd on you and reaching in a 30 foot radius and deal 5d10 Force Damage or only half damage and no effect if all targets in the effected area Succeed a Dexterity saving Throw vs Spell DC.
  • The Arcane Pulse is gain the bonuses from the Eldritch invocations what said effects are you can read at the end of the sub class.

Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finished a long rest.

Eldritch Invocations

Everlasting

prerequisite: 18th level

Your life is prolonged and you feel like your aging has either slowed down by a lot or completely stopped.

You are immune to effects that ages you and you can not die of old age.

Depth of magic

prerequisite: Pact of the Tome

Your knowledge if grate enough to bend magic to your will, every long rest you can pick a secondary elemental damage that you can change to for any spell or your pact Weapons damage.

Elemental Weapon

prerequisite: Pact of the Blade

With your knowledge of your pact weapon you can change the weapons damage type at the start of a long rest to a magical damage type.

Trinket of ages

prerequisite: Pact of the Talisman

You have dug deeper in the knowledge of the Talisman which lead you to discover how to recharge it during a short rest.

Chain of Command

prerequisite: Pact of the Chain

Your knowledge of the familier spell is so big that you can have two Familiar out at the same time and command them both with a bonus aciton.

The Third Eye

prerequisite: Invocation Devil's sight, 12th level

Your study and ability to see in magical darkness has gain you the ability to see with the third eye which give you the Truesight 10 feet.

Optional rule: With a DM's promision a player can pick this invocation if they posses the figthing style Blind Fighting.

Secret of the Arcane: Eldritch Invocation effects

  • Agonizing Blast and Lifedrinker adds your charisma to the damage, only one can be applied at the time.
  • Eldritch Spear extend the radius to 60 feet.
  • Grasp of Hadar pulls all effected enemy 10 feet towards you.
  • Lance of Lethargy Causes all effected enemies in the area a reduced movement of 10 feet.
  • Repelling Blast pushes all enemies in area 10 feet away from you.
  • Thirsting Blade allows you one more use of Arcane Pulse per long rest.
  • Gift of the Ever-Living Ones leaves an area that heals your allies who enter it for 5d10 only once after it is active. the area last for 2 turns.
  • Protection of the Talisman leaves an Aura for 3 turns allowing the player with in it to use the talismans power without expending any of it charges, one can take part of the ability once per turn.
  • Aspect of the Moon Any creature that is not immune to sleep condition will be put too sleep ifthe creature faols the Save DC
  • Protection of the Talisman Centerd around you is a protective aura left behined that is equal to the area of the attack, While in the area any allied creature can add a d4 to their saves. this aura last for two turns.

Updates notes and words

The Subclass needed a re-structeruring and re-wording.

  • Abilities has been reworked and changed a bit.
  • The Feature Secret of the pact: Blade, got a small rework to not add something that the main class already had.
  • New additional invocations has been added
  • The The Third Eldritch secret has gain a more. structured set up and a more understandable wording.
  • Additional optional rule for dm regarding The Third Eye Invocation allowing it to be taken if a player have the Blind Fighting figthing style.
  • Subclass renamed from The Eldritch Rulers to The Arcane Rulers, this change has been made to better set the name sake to all features gain and also for better setting a stronger point for any and all Story telling for long time Campagins.

Word from the Creator

These changes was not made cause of the recent release of the 2024 books, this change was made cause it needed a rework from my old work which was weak at the time I created it.

If by any chanse you wonder if I will do homebrew content for the new rules, system and classes that came out with the 2024 books (5.5e) I will not do so, for I personally do not belive in that system to be balance at all, and that they only set them self up for a lot of unnecessary work to rework a lots of the rules that they added to the 5 edition through the 5.5e. But if like it I will not judge you.
