# Shardmind A manifestation of magic through crystal Shardminds are creatures that are created from large spells or magical effects that run through the ground. Often a nomadic peoples, not being raised in a specific city or nation and forming opinions and a personality based on the peoples they meet and their encounters with the world, making adventurer one of the more common occupation for shardminds ### Appearance Shardminds are crystalline creatures consisting of hundreds of small shards of translucent green, white, red, or amber crystal assembled into humanoid form and animated by a force of magic energy. Shardminds choose their forms to mimic the shapes of humanoids; some take on forms that seem more masculine, while others appear more feminine. A Shardmind's animating force glows dimly from within each ofits component shards, emanating most brightly from where the eyes of a natural humanoid would be. This inner light sheds dim light in a shardmind's space, but a shard mind individual can squelch the light with an instant's concentration in order to hide in the dark. for example. The crystalline fragments making up a shard- mind's body are in constant, silent motion, almost like the circulation of blood. When a shardmind is stunned or unconscious, it might lose control of the tight mental reins that keep its body in humanoid form, a few shards slipping free into orbits around its body until the Shardmind regains control. ### Shardmind names Shardmind's are not born and instead formed spontaneously often take names from the cultures they meet or find a name or phrase they associate strongly with. In rare cases with a particularlly large expenditure of magic from a mage in which case they often form a telepathic bond with them and can take a name given by that mage. ### Shardmind traits Shardmind have a variety of abilities lent to them from their unusual formation and body. **Size** Height ranges from 5' 9"-6' 2". Your size is medium **Speed** Your base walking speed is 30ft **Living Construct** Even though you were constructed, you are a living creature. You are immune to disease. You do not need to eat, breathe or age. Instead of sleeping, you enter an inactive state for 6-8 hours each day. **Crystalline mind** You have no mouth and instead can communicate telepathically with creatures that share a language with you, this has a range of 60ft and you can maintain a conversation with up to 5 people at once. In addition you have resistance to psychic damage. **Languages** You are unable to speak but can understand Common, deep speech and one other language of your choice. **Subrace** You can choose between 3 subclasses for the shardmind; Arcane, Splinter, or Might.
### Arcane Arcane Shardmind often harness the magic that formed them enhancing their mind and senses. **Ability score increase** Your Intelligence increases by 2 and your Wisdom score increases by 1. **Mind Delve.** Once Per long rest you may cast the detect thoughts without having to use verbal or material components. ### Splinter Splinter Shardmind are more malleable in form, being more nimble and even able to briefly splinter there for to blink a short distance. **Ability score increase** Your Dexterity increases by 2 and your Charisma score increases by 1. **Shard Swarm** Once per long rest you may cast the spell misty step, this is represented by you splitting into shards and reforming at your destination ### Might Might Shardmind leverage the strength of the crystal from which they are formed and can use their magic to enhance their body. **Ability Score Increase** Your Strength increases by 2 and your Constitution increases by 1. **Crystalline Manipulation** Once Per Long Rest you may cast Enlarge/Reduce targeting yourself.
