# Natural 1 Wild Magic Effects Table ## Guess I'll Die The purpose of this table is to provide a Wild Magic table with more impressive (and potentially challenging) magical effects than the Wild Magic Surge Table from _The Player's Handbook_ (Wizards of the Coast, 2014). This table, as well as the [Natural 20 Wild Magic Effects Table](https://www.gmbinder.com/share/-NA1SasEjg4yAFpCvVw7), are especially useful for DMs with magic-wielding PCs. ### Nat 1 Magical Effects | d100 | Effect | |:---:|:------:| | 01 – 02 | Roll on this table at the start of each of your turns for the next minute, but ignore any consequent rolls of 1 or 2. | | 03 – 04 | For the next minute, you are blinded. All attacks you make are made with disadvantage, while all attacks against you are made with advantage. | | 05 – 06 | An ooze, randomly chosen by the DM, appears in an unoccupied space within 5 feet of you, then disappears a minute later. | | 07 – 08 | You cast
fireball
as a second level spell centered on yourself. | | 09 – 10 | Your voice becomes extremely high pitched for the next hour. | | 11 – 12 | Roll a d10. Your height changes by a number of feet equal to your roll, for that many hours. If the roll is odd, you shrink; if the roll is even, you grow. If you grow, attacks made against you have advantage. | | 13 – 14 | You cast
crown of madness
centered on yourself. | | 15 – 16 | You are suddenly trapped inside a glass ball. To be freed, the ball must be broken (AC = 5, HP = 10). | | 17 – 18 | You grow a long beard made of feathers, which only disappears in an explosion when you sneeze. You may attempt a sneeze (Constitution DC 15) as a bonus action. | | 19 – 20 | You cast
grease
centered on the nearest creature who is friendly to you. | | 21 – 22 | Creatures have advantage on saving throws against the next spell you cast within the next minute. | | 23 – 24 | Your skin turns a vibrant shade of purple. A
remove curse
spell can end this effect. | | 25 – 26 | You are pivoted 180 degrees. You have two seconds before you fall to the ground. | | 27 – 28 | You fall madly in love with the intended target of your spell. This lasts for one minute. | \columnbreak | d100 | Effect | |:---:|:------:| | 29 – 30 | Each creature within 30 feet of you becomes invisible for the next minute. The invisibility ends early for a creature when it attacks or casts a spell. | | 31 – 32 | You magically lose an arm or a leg (your choice). Anything you were holding appears on the ground beside you, but anything you were wearing vanishes with the appendage. Only a
dispell magic
(cast at 5th level or higher),
remove curse
, or
resurrection
spell can return the lost appendage. | | 33 – 34 | Minimize the damage of the next spell you cast that hits its target within the next minute. | | 35 – 36 | Roll a d10. Your age changes by a number of years equal to the number rolled. If the roll is odd, you get younger (minimum one year). If the roll is even, you get older. | | 37 – 38 | All cloth on your body crumbles to dust. | | 39 – 40 | A bear intent on harming the party, and with knowledge of its whereabouts, is summoned 300 feet away. | | 41 – 42 | You become a potted plant. You are incapacitated and have vulnerability to all damage. You revert to your old self when you drop to zero hit points. | | 43 – 44 | Your walking speed is halved for the next minute. | | 45 – 46 | You can only speak the truth for the next 24 hours, and must respond when directly asked any questions. | | 47 – 48 | Four Bullywugs appear within 20 feet of you. They will fight any non-Bullywugs who get within 10 feet of them. | | 49 – 50 | You are unable to speak for the next minute. Whenever you try, pink bubbles float out of your mouth. | | 51 – 52 | You lose the ability to cast one cantrip of your choice for the next hour. | | 53 – 54 | Your head becomes twice as large for one minute. Enemies score a critical hit on you with an attack roll of 19 or 20. | | 55 – 56 | Your hair, including eyelashes, falls out and grows back over the next 24 hours. | | 57 – 58 | For the next minute, any object you touch that isn't being worn or carried by another creature bursts into flames. | | 59 – 60 | You can only speak in questions for the next 1d4 hours. | | 61 – 62 | For the next minute, you must shout when speaking. | | 63 – 64 | You cast
fog cloud
cast on the nearest creature. | | 65 – 66 | A 10x10 foot pit appears immediately under you. Its depth is equal to five times your level. | | 67 – 68 | You are frightened of the nearest creature until the end of your next turn. This occurs even if you are immune to being frightened as a racial or class feature. |

### Nat 1 Magical Effects (continued) | d100 | Effect | |:---:|:------:| | 69 – 70 | Your spell rebounds and hits you instead. Instead of rolling, you take minimum damage. | | 71 – 72 | The sight of blood makes you sick to the point that you are incapacitated if/when you see it within the next minute. | | 73 – 74 | A random creature within 60 feet of you becomes poisoned for 1d4 hours. | | 75 – 76 | An extraplanar creature appears with a 25% chance of each of the following types: Celestial, Elemental, Fey, Fiendish. The creature disappears after one minute. | | 77 – 78 | You cast
polymorph
on yourself. If you fail the saving throw, you are turned into a pig for the spell's duration. | | 79 – 80 | You contract lycanthropy; the DM decides what type (bear, boar, rat, tiger, or wolf). The full effects do not appear until the next full moon. | | 81 – 82 | You and all creatures within 60 feet of you must make a Strength saving throw (DC = 15) or be thrown straight upwards by 2d4 x 10 feet and take 1d6 bludgeoning damage per 10 feet fallen upon landing. | | 83 – 84 | Each friendly creature within 30 feet of you takes 1d10 necrotic damage. You regain points equal to the combined damage. | | 85 – 86 | You hear a loud slurp and realize half of your gold pieces have vanished (rounded down). | | 87 – 88 | You feel a burning sensation in your chest. You take a -1 penalty to your AC for the next minute. | | 89 – 90 | You lose the ability to communicate with or understand any other creatures with an intelligence score above 4. This effect lasts for one minute. | | 91 – 92 | The clothes and armor on your body shrink by two sizes, causing you to lose your concentration on any spells for the next minute. For the duration, you also have disadvantage on Dexterity saving throws. | | 93 – 94 | You can only speak one language (which isn't Common) for the next hour. If you try to speak other languages, your voice sounds like a foghorn (though at regular speaking volume). If you only speak one language, you cannot speak it for the duration. | | 95 – 96 | You and all creatures within 30 feet of you all gain vulnerability to the last type of damage dealt against you for the next minute. | | 97 – 98 | All metal objects that are not worn within 60 feet fly toward you. You must make a Dexterity saving throw (DC = 15) and take 2d4 bludgeoning damage on a failed save (or half as much on a successful save). If no metal is found in the area, other environmental debris (such as rocks or twigs) replace the metal, chosen by the DM. | | 99 – 100 | You sneeze thrice in a row. For the next minute, you cannot take bonus actions or reactions, but instead sneeze with increasing volume and flair. |
