# Hebigami ###### "Some introduce the Lamia and their kin as one of the many races that embrace their wonderful and magical lineage between Mother Earth's blessing and their beautiful humane halves. Yet, it appears that most people forget their roots, the progenitors that sparked their wonderful existence." ##### — Annette F. Dominic ### History It is said that the Hebigami were the more animalistic, snake oriented individuals that came before Lamia. Hebigami were lived in tribes along the northern and eastern portions of Akabar, preferring the harsher climates that this world could offer. Most were hunters and foragers, yet they were more than comfortable designating certain times where the tribes hunters are to stockpile food stuffs while others begin to go through and hunt for themselves and their hatchlings if possible. While time has passed rather quickly with many cities, towns, and villages establishing themselves across the continent alongside the various wars and battles of territory, Hebigami grew scarce over the many years. Those who wandered the mountain hightops and those who buried themselves deep beneath the sands of the Derulian Dunes, it is said that due to lack of resources and wars with the many humanoid races smaller than them, their numbers have dwindled quite drastically while very few remain. ___ ### Appearance Hebigami are long and thick snake like creatures with a humanoid right above the mouth of the body. The mouth holds the large (and potentially poisonous) fangs whilst the bottom lips are another pair of arms. Hebigami can grow to be up to 30ft. long from the top of the head to the base of the tail whilst maintaining approximately 4ft diameter. Their scale colors do change depending on the environment they were born in, alongside the parents' scale color. Hebigami born in the heat and sandy region of the Derulian Dunes tend to appear anywhere from onyx black to sandy brown while those who lie in the northern mountains are mainly neutral hues of black, white, and grey. The main takeaway that Hebigami have over Lamia is that they appear to have the head of the snake down, where the face of the snake shifts into their torso and upper body. This face does in fact have a mouth that can expand large enough to swallow medium and smaller creatures whole, sometimes even large monsters depending on the situation! This mouth does sport a pair of fangs as well. Most Hebigami tend to also match skin tones equal to their scale color and pattern! ___ ### Hebigami Names Female Example Names: Deirdre, Flavia, Shez, Yvette ###### Male Example Names: Acheron, Basilio, Pent, Walhart ___ ### Hebigami Traits ___ Your Hebigami character has the following racial traits. **Ability Score Increase.** Increase one ability score by 2 and increase a different one by 1, or increase three different ability scores by 1. **Age.** Hebigami reach maturity at 16 and can live to be well over 600 years old. **Alignment.** Hebigami adopt a more passive and defensive nature to outsiders, yet are more than helpful to surround themselves with welcoming and kind individuals outside their race and tribe. Hebigami tend to lean towards Neutral or Lawful. **Size.** Your size is considered medium. Hebigami torso can be anywhere from 5~6ft. Yet from head to tail tip, their full body length can stretch from 25ft. all the way to 35ft. whilst maintaining a 2~5ft. diameter. **Multiple Limbs.** While the Hebigami do possess more than one set of limbs, the pair of arms at the bottom of their mouths cannot serve complex purposes in combat scenarios, only capable of minor tasks (up to DM's discretion) such as holding an item (not using an item, but again this is up to DM's discretion). **Speed.** Your base walking speed is 35 feet, though you slither as a snake instead of walking like a normal humanoid. **Constrict and Devour.** Your coiling lower body is a natural combat tool, which you can use to make constricting attacks. You can choose to grapple a target creature within 5ft. of you with your tail. The targeted creature must make a Strength saving throw against your Athletics check, if they fail the save, they are considered grappled. Until the grapple ends you can’t constrict another target and if the creature is your size or smaller, it is restrained. This leaves your hands free to wield weapons or take other actions and you may choose to grapple in this way even on a regular grapple check. If a creature is to be knocked *unconscious* whilst being grappled by you, you may choose to **Devour** it instead of letting it go as a reaction. This renders the creature at hand dead and unable to be revived by any means short of a *Wish* spell. When the **Devour** has taken place, you heal a number of d6's equal to your Proficiency Bonus. **Languages.** You can speak, read and write Common, draconic, and one other language of your choice. **Subraces.** Dune Strider, Peak Strider, Depth Strider ### Dune Strider **Speed.** As a Dune Strider, you gain a 30ft. *burrowing* speed. **Tremor Sense.** You have a Tremor Sense of 60ft. **Hunter's Instincts.** You have proficiency in one of the following skills of your choice: Athletics, Intimidation, Perception, or Survival. ### Peak Strider **Speed.** As a Peak Strider, you gain a 30ft *climbing* speed. **Darkvision.** You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray. **Mountain Born.** You have resistance to cold damage. You’re also acclimated to high altitude, including elevations above 20,000 feet. \pagebreak ### Depth Strider **Speed.** As a Depth Strider, you gain a 30ft. *swimming* speed. **Amphibious.** You can breathe air and water. **Leviathan Will.** You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, frightened, paralyzed, poisoned, stunned, or put to sleep.
