Pact of the Harbinger

Your patron has chosen you to become their harbinger. Travelling the world on horseback, you spread their word, whether it spells the nearing end of the world - or that their savior is about to come. You might choose to become one of the riders of the apocalypse, becoming a harbinger of war, conquest, pestilence or hunger, you might choose to adapt a wraith-like appearance, riding through the night and haunting those who keep an artifact your patron desires to have, or you might ride a proud unicorn, bringing joy, peace and aid to those who need it.

When you choose this Pact Boon, you gain the following benefits:

  • Bonded Steed: You can cast the Find Steed spell as a ritual. In addition to the options offered by that spell, you can summon a zombie warhorse or warhorse skeleton. Your steed gains temporary hit points equal to twice your warlock level and you cannot be dismounted from your steed against your will.
  • Eldritch Lance: When you cast Eldritch Blast while riding your steed, you can choose to manifest a magical lance in your hand and attack with it, replacing the ranged spell attack for each beam with a melee spell attack with a reach of 10 feet.

Eldritch Invocations

If you chose the Pact of the Harbinger, you become eligible for the following Eldritch Invocations:

Words of Dread

Prerequisite: Pact of the Harbinger

You learn the thaumaturgy cantrip and gain proficiency in the Intimidation skill. Your proficiency bonus is doubled for any ability check you make that uses this skill.

Horseman's Armor

Prerequisite: Pact of the Harbinger

You gain proficiency with medium armor and shields. When you summon your steed, it comes equipped with barding that matches the type of armor you wear.

Eldritch Charge

Prerequisite: Pact of the Harbinger, Eldritch Blast, 5th level

Once per turn, when you are mounted on your steed and move at least 10 feet in a straight line before attacking a creature with your Eldritch Lance, that creature must make a Strength saving throw against your spell save DC or be knocked prone.

Vigilant Herald

Prerequisite: Pact of the Harbinger, 7th level

While you are mounted on your steed, you and your steed cannot be frightened and each creature of your choice within 30 feet of you has advantage on saving throws to avoid or end the frightened condition on themselves.

Ghost Rider

Prerequisite: Pact of the Harbringer, 12th level

While you are mounted on your steed, your steed moves normally, but even if it is not flying, it is always floating 4 inches above the ground, which means it can cross or stand above nonsolid or unstable surfaces, such as water or lava. In addition, you and your steed are under the effect of a freedom of movement spell and your steed has advantage on saving throws against being knocked prone.

Incarnation of Good or Evil

Prerequisite: Pact of the Harbringer, 15th level

Your patron elevates you to become an icon of what they represent. You can cast Find Greater Steed as a ritual to summon your bonded steed. In addition to the options offered by that spell, you can summon a nightmare.
