Preface

This is a collection of additional Ki Techniques for laserllama's Alternate Monk. While the primary intention is for this to be used with aforementioned class, the following techniques probably can work as replacement features for some of the vanilla monk's class features.

This work includes material taken from the System Reference Document 5.1 (“SRD 5.1”) by Wizards of the Coast LLC and available at https://dnd.wizards.com/resources/systems-reference-document. Techniques

Hammer Fist, Spear Finger, Sword Palm

Requirements: none

Your unarmed strikes count as a single weapon with light and finesse properties whenever beneficial. Furthermore you can choose if they deal Bludgeoning, Piercing or Slashing damage.

Projected Blow

Requirements: none

Instead of making a melee Martial Arts attack, you can spend up to your Wis modifier Ki points to project your attack at a distance, making a ranged spell attack instead.

This attack deals damage equal to your Martial Arts die with the type determined by the weapon (or lack thereof) used, with range equal to 20ft times the Ki points spent.

Tiger Leap

Requirements: none

You always count as having a running start for jumps. Furthermore, you can use your Dexterity instead of Strength to calculate your jumping distance.

Turtle Breathing

Requirements: none

You can hold your breath for up to your Constitution score hours.

Arcane Contemplation

Requirements: 5th level Monk

You learn two cantrips from those available to Wizards. Wisdom is your casting stat for these cantrips.

Burning the Lifeblood

Requirements: 5th level Monk

In a pinch you can burn your vitality for power by expending your Hit Dice in place of Ki points at a rate of 1 Hit Die per Ki point.

Primal Understanding

Requirements: 5th level Monk

You learn two cantrips from those available to Druids. Wisdom is your casting stat for these cantrips.

Arcane Epiphany

Requirements: 9th level Monk

You learn a single spell with the Ritual tag of at most 3rd level from the Wizard, Bard or Warlock lists. Wisdom is the casting stat for this spell. You can cast this spell as a ritual.
Alternatively you can cast this spell by expending Ki equal to 1 + the spell's level.
In both cases you may ignore material components worth 1gp or less.

Divine Epiphany

You learn a single spell with the Ritual tag of at most 3rd level from the Cleric or Paladin lists. Wisdom is the casting stat for this spell. You can cast this spell as a ritual.
Alternatively you can cast this spell by expending Ki equal to 1 + the spell's level.
In both cases you may ignore material components worth 1gp or less.

Windstride

Requirements: 9th level Monk

When in air and as long as you aren't incapacitated, you can expend 2 Ki to start Windstriding, slowing your fall to 60ft per round for up to 1 minute and allowing you to travel up to 2ft horizontally per 1ft of vertical distance.

If you stop Windstriding while in the air, you count as if you just started falling.

Ascendant Step

Requirements: 13th level Monk

By spending 1 Ki, you can create temporary foothold to jump off of in mid-air, as long as you aren't incapacitated.
