Oath of Progress

The Oath of Progress is a call for constant improvement and development, not only of one self, but of society as a whole. Followers of this order are both warriors and scholars, often traveling to distant lands in search of forgotten knowledge, and paving the way for civilization to advance into a new age of enlightenment.

Sometimes called paragon knights or protectors of tomorrow, paladins of this oath seek to inspire and protect the brilliant minds that bring society closer to Utopia.

Tenets of Progress

Even though the idea of Utopia that each paladin holds may vary, each member sworn to the Oath of Progress upholds the following tenets.

  • Move ever forward. Stagnation is the enemy of innovation. Utopia comes only to those who seek it.
  • Always be curious. Every answer brings up new questions. Follow your curiosity and you will always have a path ahead.
  • Learn from your mistakes. Each failure moves us to improvement. Don't linger on past errors if not to learn from them.
  • Share your knowledge. Spread what you learn to inspire others in their way to advance society.

Oath Spells

3rd level Oath of Progress feature

You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed in the Oath of Progress Spells table. See the Sacred Oath class feature for how oath spells work.

Oath of Progress Spells
Paladin Level Spell
3rd Catapult, Identify
5th Enhance Ability, Heat metal
9th Lightning bolt, Protection from energy
13th Fabricate, Resilient sphere
17th Skill empowerment, Telepathic bond

Channel Divinity

3rd level Oath of Progress feature

You gain the following two Channel Divinity options. See the Sacred Oath class feature for how Channel Divinity works.

Holy Artifact. Whenever you finish a long rest, you can use your Channel Divinity to infuse an object with magic similar to that of an artificer. You can touch a nonmagical weapon to turn it into a magic weapon with a +1 bonus to attack rolls and damage rolls. Alternatively, you can replicate one common magic item, not including potions or scrolls. The object remains magical until you use this ability again or die.

Divine Inspiration. As a bonus action, you can use your Channel Divinity to focus your mind. For the next minute you have advantage on ability checks that use your Intelligence modifier, as well as Intelligence saving throws.

Aura of Concentration

7th and 18th level Oath of Progress feature

Your encouraging presence gives mental strength and clarity. While you are not incapacitated, you and creatures of your choice within 5 feet of you have advantage on Constitution saving throws to maintain concentration.

At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 10 feet.

Sharpened Mind

15th level Oath of Progress feature

You gain resistance to psychic damage. Additionally, whenever you use your Channel Divinity to make a Holy Artifact, you can make a magic weapon with a +2 bonus to attack rolls and damage rolls, or you can replicate one uncommon magic item, not including potions or scrolls.

Promethean Paragon

20th-level Oath of Progress feature

You can turn into an embodiment of ingenuity and determination. As a bonus action, you gain the following benefits for 1 minute:

  • You can maintain concentration on two spells at the same time. If you fail a Constitution saving throw to maintain your concentration, you lose concentration on both spells.
  • At the start of each of your turns, you can grant 10 temporary hit points to one creature of your choice within 30 feet of you.
