Split Weapon Repair
Various "split" weapons have the interlocking property, which allows a single weapon to detach into two separate weapons. There are no rules for what happens if one of these two separated weapons is lost or destroyed, while the other half remains with the wielder, so consider using this rule for such an event.
The wielder with the remaining half of the split weapon can choose to spend a long rest (or a longer period of time) and expend raw materials worth a quarter of the total market value of the complete weapon to repair the weapon to its full potential, allowing it to use the interlocking property again. Consider requiring proper tools be used in the crafting process as well. The lost half of the weapon is then destroyed (if it wasn't already) by miraculous happenstance.
This variant rule should only extend to players, to prevent NPCs from stealing half of the weapon and then destroying the player's remaining half outside of their control.
