Warlock Subclass: The Forest

Warlock: The Forest

Your patron is less a being and more a force. It may be the winds that blow through the hills, the darkness between the trees, or even the mist that swirls around your ankles. This force follows you, an eerie presence always over your shoulder. Others may feel the sanctity the trees provide, or the beauty in large fields of flowers, but you can only see past it, see it for what it really is. An all consuming vicious cycle that thirsts for death to continue. It is your job to feed it, and for this task you are rewarded.

Expanded Spell List

Spell Level Spells
1 Absorb Elements, Ensnaring Strike
2 Enthral, Silence
3 Elemental Weapon, Plant Growth
4 Dominate Beast, Greater Invisibility
5 Dominate Person, Seeming

Forest’s Allure

Starting at 1st level, your patron assists in your collection of its food. As an action, you can attempt to lure a creature that is unaware of your presence. This lure can be a sweet smell, beautiful flowers, a birds song, or other alluring stimulus. The target must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or follow the stimulus. While a creature is lured, it has disadvantage on Perception checks, and vulnerability to the first attack that hits it. Creatures can make another save every minute, becoming immune to the effect for 24 hours on a success.

Forest’s Feast

Starting at 1st level, your patron allows you to partake in its feast. Whenever you kill a creature, you can spend 1 minute eating it. You ignore any potential hazards eating the creature may cause, and gain temporary hitpoints equal to the amount of hitdice the creature had.

Natural Hazards

Starting at 6th level, you can coax the world around you to create a natural hazard. In 1 minute, you create a trap you desire, such as an icicle spike pit hidden with powder snow, a rolling bolder ready to fall at a hair trigger, and anything else you can reasonably conceive with the terrains assistance.

Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

Something Wicker

Beginning at 10th level, your patron starts taking a more active roll in your efforts to feed it. You can spend 1 hour creating up to 2 servants made from weaved wicker, fog, vines, or other natural materials of the region. These servants can take the form of any Plant under CR 1. They obey any verbal commands that you issue to them (no action required by you). If you don't issue any commands to them, they defend themselves from hostile creatures, but otherwise take no actions.

Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

Devouring Earth

Starting at 14th level, you can cause the earth to rupture and swallow prey. As an action, you command the earth to split open. All creatures in a 15ft wide 120ft long line must make a Dexterity saving throw or take 5d10 bludgeoning damage and fall into the 15ft deep fissure, or half as much on a success and not fall in. As an action, you can close the fissure, dealing 10d10 bludgeoning damage to all creatures inside.
