Bramble

2nd-Level Transmutation

  • Components: V, S, M (a berry, and stem covered in thorns)
  • Duration: Concentration, up to 1 minute

You rejuvenate a creature you touch, and cover it in magical thorns. When you cast this spell, the target regains 1d8 hit points. For the duration of the spell, whenever the target is hit with a melee attack, the attacking creature takes 1d6 piercing damage.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, the healing increases by 1d8 and the damage increases by 1d6 for every two slot levels above 2nd.

Barbed Weapon

3rd-Level Transmutation

  • Duration: Concentration, up to 1 hour

A melee weapon you touch grows magical thorns for the duration of the spell and deals an extra 1d8 magical piercing damage when it hits.

Additionally, when the wielder of the weapon is hit with a melee attack, you can end the spell to deal 4d8 piercing damage to the attacking creature.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 5th level or higher, the extra damage increases by 1d8 and the damage dealt by ending the spell increases by 2d8 for every two slot levels above 3rd.

Thornskin

3rd-Level Transmutation

  • Range: Touch
  • Components: V, S, M (a handful of thorns)
  • Duration: Concentration, up to 1 hour

The skin of a willing creature you touch gains a tough and thorn-covered appearance. Until the spell ends, the target's AC can't be less than 14 + its Dexterity modifier.

When the target is hit with a melee attack, magical thorns shoot out at the attacking creature, dealing 1d8 piercing damage to it. Additionally, the target's unarmed strikes deal an extra 1d4 piercing damage.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 6th level or higher, the damage dealt to the attacking creature increases by 1d8, and the target gains a +1 bonus to its AC.






































Garden of Thorns

4th-Level Transmutation


  • Classes: Druid, Ranger
  • Casting Time: 1 action
  • Range: 60 feet
  • Components: V, S, M (a seed with thorns or barbs)
  • Duration: Concentration, up to 1 minute

You fill a 30-foot-radius sphere, centered on a point you choose within range, with intangible and translucent thorned vines.

When you cast this spell, choose up to 3 creatures you can see. For the duration of the spell, if any of the chosen creatures are hit with an attack while both the chosen creature and the attacking creature are within the area of vines, the attacking creature takes 2d8 piercing damage. This effect can only be triggered once per turn.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 6th level or higher, increase the range of the spell by 20 feet, the radius of the sphere by 10 feet, the amount of chosen creatures by 2, and the damage dealt by 1d8 for every two slot levels above 4th.
