# Martial Archetype # Death Sovereign The archetypal Death Sovereign seeks mastery over life and death, raising the dead to serve them. They're powerful combatants in their own right, but they're always accompanied by a bloodthirsty horde of undead they hold dominion over. The necromanctic power they wield doesn't leave them unscathed however, coming at the cost of their very humanity. ## Subjugation in Death *3rd-level Death Sovereign feature* Through mastery of unlife, you’ve learned to animate the dead. As a bonus action, you can expend a use of this feature to choose a corpse of a medium or small creature within 30 feet. That corpse is animated and rises as an Undead Vassal at the start of your next turn. Additionally, if a medium or small creature is killed within 30 feet of you, you can use your reaction to expend a use of this feature and raise them as an Undead Vassal at the start of your next turn. You can use this ability a number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus and regain all of your expended uses when you finish a long rest. The Undead Vassal is friendly to you and your companions, and it obeys your commands. See its game statistics in the accompanying Undead Vassal stat block, which uses your proficiency bonus (PB) in several places. In combat, the Undead Vassal shares your initiative count, but it takes its turn immediately after yours. It can move and use its reaction on its own, but the only action it takes on its turn is the Dodge action, unless you take a bonus action on your turn to mentally command it to take another action. That action can be one in its stat block or some other action. (if you control multiple Undead Vassals, you can Command any or all of them at the same time) If you are incapacitated, Undead Vassals attack the nearest creature. (excluding you) You can control a number of Undead Vassals equal to your Proficiency Bonus. If you gain control over another Undead Vassal while you currently control the maximum number, the Undead Vassal with the lowest current Hit Points is destroyed. As an action, you can destroy any number of Undead Vassals under your control, instantly reducing it to zero hit points ___ > ## Undead Vassal >*Medium Undead* > ___ > - **Armor Class** 11 + PB (natural armor) > - **Hit Points** 10 + ½ your fighter level (the Undead Vassal has a number of Hit Dice [d8s] equal to two plus your player level ÷ 6 with a minimum of one) > - **Speed** 30 ft. >___ >|STR|DEX|CON|INT|WIS|CHA| >|:---:|:---:|:---:|:---:|:---:|:---:| >|14 (+2)|12 (+1)|15 (+2)|8 (-1)|12 (+1)|5 (-3)| >___ > - **Saving Throws** Str 1 + PB, Con 2 + PB > - **Damage Resistances** Necrotic > - **Senses** darkvision 60 ft., passive Perception 11 > - **Languages** understands the languages you speak > ___ > ### Actions > ***Spectral Armament.*** *Melee Weapon Attack:* your Constitution modifier plus proficiency bonus to hit, reach 5 ft., one target.
