Way of the Cobalt Soul, Revised
Mystical Erudition
Starting at 3rd level, you have extensively studied the history and lore within the archives of the Cobalt Soul. You learn one language and gain one skill proficiency of your choice. You gain an additional language and an additional skill proficiency at 6th and 11th level.
Extract Aspects
At 3rd level, your studies allow you to better analyze your targets, yielding to you their secrets. If you spend at least 1 minute deliberately observing or interacting with a single target, you can analyze it. You can also analyze a target by touching it as an action or making a ki-fueled attack against it (such as an attack empowered by Stunning Strike or granted by Flurry of Blows). Each target cannot be analyzed more than once per turn.
The first time you analyze a target, you learn its damage vulnerabilities, damage resistances, damage immunities, and conditional immunities. Analyzing the target a second time reveals each of their ability scores and their creature type. Analyzing the target a third time reveals their armor class, saving throw proficiencies, movement types, and senses.
Preternatural Discernment
At 3rd level, the understanding of your targets you gain through observation allows you to find openings others cannot. When a target misses you with an attack or you succeed on a saving throw it subjected you to make, you can make an unarmed strike against them as a reaction.
Additionally, you gain a bonus to your AC and saving throws against attacks and effects made by a target. This bonus equal to the number of times you’ve analyzed the target, up to a maximum of three.
At 11th level, these bonuses and their maximum are doubled.
You cannot use this ability while wearing armor, wielding a shield, or wielding a weapon that is not a monk weapon.
Extort Truth
Starting at 6th level, you lower the barrier between a target’s conscious and unconscious selves, temporarily preventing targets from masking their true thoughts and intent. Either when you forego an unarmed strike to touch a creature or hit a creature with an unarmed strike, you can spend 1 ki point to force it to make a Charisma saving throw.
On a failed save, the creature is unable to speak a deliberate lie, and all Charisma and Insight checks directed at the creature are made with advantage for up to 10 minutes.
You know if the target succeeded or failed on its saving throw, however, the target has no indication the effect has taken place until it has altered their intended course of action.
Superior Erudition
At 6th level, you gain a bonus to your ability checks using Intelligence or made against analyzed targets equal to your Wisdom modifier.
Mind of Mercury
Starting at 11th level, you’ve honed your awareness and reflexes through mental aptitude and pattern recognition. Once per triggering effect, if you’ve already taken your reaction, you may spend 1 ki point to take an additional reaction.
Debilitating Barrage
Upon reaching 17th level, you’ve gained the knowledge to manipulate a creature’s ki to undermine their fortitude. When you hit a creature with an unarmed strike, you can spend 3 ki points to cause the creature to gain vulnerability to one damage type of your choice for 1 minute, or until the end of a turn in which it has taken damage of that type.
If a creature has resistance to the damage type you choose, it’s resistance is instead suppressed for 1 minute. A creature that is immune to the damage type you choose is unaffected.
