# Otherwordly Patron: The Dread Pirate Rumors spread like rats in the sewers, whispers lingering on the ears of all that were in his crew. They said he was found on a piece of driftwood in the wreckage of his own ship, betrayed by his first mate. By all accounts he should've died, but as he was found, it was like the shadows clung to his body like whatever life he had left. It is said that he walks with determination, a burning anger behind his now malachite eyes that glow with a sinister light. They say he made a deal with the devil, shook hands with death, or allowed Davy Jones to take his heart. Whatever they may say, it was meaningless to him. He had a score to settle, and the shadowed hand that lay on his shoulder was giving him the bullets and the flintlock to do so. And the crew knew, to not get in his way. #### Expanded Spell List The Dread Pirate lets you choose from an expanded list of spells when you learn a warlock spell. The following spells are added to the warlock spell list for you. #### Dread Pirate Expanded Spells | Spell Level | Spells | |:---:|:-----------:| | 1st | hail of thorns, splitting bullet | | 2nd | deadeye’s blessing, magic weapon | | 3rd | conjure barrage, dead man’s dread | | 4th | control water, guiding waves | | 5th | banishing smite, conjure volley | ### Dread Pirate’s Strength At 1st level, your patron fills you with the swashbuckling power they once held. You gain proficiency with martial weapons. The influence of your patron also allows you to channel their will through firearms. Whenever you finish a long rest, you can touch one weapon that has the firearm property that you are proficient with and that lacks the two-handed property and make your Dreadful Firearm. When you attack with this weapon, you can use your Charisma modifier, instead of Strength or Dexterity, for the attack and damage rolls. This benefit lasts until you finish a long rest. If you later gain the Pact of the Blade feature, this benefit extends to every pact weapon that has the firearm property that you conjure with that feature, no matter the weapon's type. \columnbreak
You do not need to provide ammunition for your Dread Firearm, where it will instead fire blasts of eldritch energy that deal force damage, however you still must Reload as normal. Furthermore any benefits or boons that would affect your Eldritch Blast, also alter the magical rounds fired from this firearm. For example, if you have the eldritch invocation Repelling Blast, each time you hit a creature with your Dread Firearm, you could push the creature up to 10 feet away from you in a straight line. Agonizing blast however, only grants additional damage equal to your proficiency bonus, and can only be added once per turn. ### Ire of the Dread Pirate At 1st level, you can focus the ire of the dreadful spirit that follows you as a bonus action against one creature you can see within 60 feet of you. The creature must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC or be Cursed by the Ire of the Dread Pirate for 1 minute. While cursed in this way, the target is Frightened of you, and each time you deal damage to this cursed target with your Dread Firearm, their speed is reduced by 5 feet until the start of your next turn. The targeted creature can remake their initial saving throw at the end of each of their turns, ending this effect on a success. Once you have used this feature, you cannot use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

You have advantage on all attack rolls made against creatures who are frightened of you, and whenever you reduce a creature to zero hit points or score a critical hit with your Dread Firearm, you can force a creature within 60 feet of you who can hear or see you to make a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC. On a fail, the creature is frightened of you until the end of your next turn. ### Warning Shot At 10th level, as an action you can fire a dreadful warning shot from your Dread Firearm laced with shadowed magic. Creatures of your choice within 60 feet that can hear or see this warning shot must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw equal to your spell save DC or become frightened of you until the end of your next turn. Furthermore any creature that you target that is concentrating on a spell must succeed on a Constitution saving throw to maintain concentration on their spell with a DC equal to your spell save DC. Creatures who are immune to the frightened condition are immune to this effect. Once you have used this feature you cannot use it again until you complete a long rest or until you expend a pact slot. ### Volley of the Dead Beginning at 14th level, as an action you can call upon the vengeance of drowned and dead pirates to surround you and fire a volley of dreadful shots. All creatures within a 60 foot cone centered on you must make a Dexterity saving throw equal to your spell save DC. Roll the damage die for your Dread Firearm an amount of times equal to its reload score + your proficiency bonus + your charisma modifier. On a failure, they take force damage equal to the total rolled, and take half damage on a success. Once you have used this feature, your Dread Firearm suffers a -1 penalty to attack rolls and damage rolls for 1 minute and you cannot use this feature again until you complete a long rest. \columnbreak ## Changelog - Version 1.1 - Added Ire of the Dread Pirate - Version 1.0 - Initial version released ### More!
