## Martial Archetype ## Iaijutsu Practitioner ### *Two beings meet silently, treading the border between shadow and oblivion. One second, a single slash and in that instant only the defeated is left on the desolate stage.*
~ From the dual blade chronicles, chapter 77
The art of Iaijustu is the master of the first strike, to kill within one breath, and to move like a flash of lightning. Practitioners of this swordplay learn to attack with an unnatural swiftness and move like a swords swing, both honed to perfection. Tales of these fighters spread like wildfire, those who can behead there opponent without them realising what has happened, those who can stand midair as if defying gravity and those who seem to be able to swing multiple weapons with one motion. #### Quick-draw Specialist Beginning at 3rd level, you wield the blade as an extension of yourself focusing on a single, lighting fast strike. When you make a melee weapon attack you can draw and stow the weapon used as part of the same action and if you do so you deal an additional 1d4 damage to that creature.
Additionally, as part of the attack action you can chose to forgo any number of additional attacks you can make to increase the speed and power of your draw. For each attack you choose to forgo you gain a cumulative +1 bonus to your attack and damage roll and deal an additional 1d4 damage for each attack forgone. #### Flowing Water Also at 3rd level, your training requires you to be able to get in and strike with an unnatural quickness. Your walking speed increases by 10ft. #### Fox Fire Slash At 7th level, while you have you have a sheathed weapon on your person and you are subjected to certain area effects, such as a red dragon's fiery breath or an Ice Storm spell you can cut away at the danger. When you are subjected to an effect that allows you to make a Dexterity saving throw to take only half damage, you can make a melee attack roll and use the result as your saving throw. You take no damage if you succeed on the saving throw, and only half damage if you fail. #### Flash Step At 10th level, when you roll for initiative you can move up to half your movement speed and make a single melee weapon attack against a creature within range.
Additionally, as a bonus action you can enhance your speed to the point where you appear to be motionless, balancing off errant leaves. You gain a flight speed equal to your walking speed until the end of your current turn. If you end your turn midair you begin to fall. \columnbreak
#### Feinting Shadow Dance At 15th level, when you use your Second Wind feature you can take the Disengage action as part of the same action If you do so before you attack on your turn your attack deals damage as if you had forgone 2 additional attacks. #### Falling Petals, Spring Breeze At 18th level, the ultimate art of the iaijutsu practitioner, the ability to move like the wind and cut with a thousand blades. As an action, you can move up to double your movement speed making a melee weapon attack against every creature you come within 5ft. of. You can only attack each creature once this way and each attack acts as if you forgone 4 attacks.
You can use this feature once and cannot use it again until you finish a long rest.
