Shadow-kin
Legends and stories often have a way of shaping our perceptions of the world around us. One such story that has been passed down through generations in the land of Drigin Crest, is that of the shadow creatures known as the Shadow-kin. According to the tales, these creatures were born from the shadows of evil gods and would run through the shadows to find naughty children who caused trouble for their parents. They would wait under their beds until the dead of night, when they would pluck up the boys and girls and bring them back to their home. There, they would be served up as stew for all the evil creatures. While this story was used to scare children and teach them a valuable lesson, the reality of the Shadow-kin is far more sinister.
Born from the Shadows
These creatures were actually brought to life by the oldest hag known as Cegilune, who created them to collect children to create hags. After the invasion of Haven, the Shadow-kin, began sprouting up and were feared by many families as relentless, evil creatures. The Shadow-kin appear as dark short shadows in the night, but in the light, they will appear as short child-like figures with pale skin and empty socket eyes. They tend to be found where hags are lurking, patiently waiting for their next victim. Despite their terrifying reputation, the Shadow-kin are often used as the scouts and infiltrators. Their ability to sneak past enemies and hide within darkness, cannot be matched them. This makes them valuable assets to those who know how to control them.
Revenge
The Shadow-kin were on the verge of becoming a powerful faction on the continent of Haven. During their rise their corebeing had absorbed much of the essence of mortal men who failed taking control of their dark castle.
Until one day a hero rose up, with companions at his side they fought through the castle defeating every foe they came across. Until they were able to capture the core being.
The Shadow-kin lost much of their power, and the darkness that their home provided. Scattered, they began plotting and are always finding way to take revenge on the mortal people who took everything from them.
