# Adjusting Ki &
Sorcerery Points ___ In 5e, monks and sorcerers are good at higher levels, but suffer from a lack of resources at the beginning of the game. Accordingly, we add a number of ki and sorcery points equal to the relevant ability modifier (for example, +3), but cap the maximum at high levels at the relevant ability score (Wisdom or Charisma), for example 20. A monk with 18 Wisdom has +4 as their modifier, so at 5th level, the monk has 4 + 5 = 9 ki points. A 2nd level sorcerer with 16 Charisma (+3) has 3 + 2 = 5 sorcery points. An 18th level sorcerer with 20 Charisma (+5) has 5 + 18 = 23, which is greater than the Charisma ability score of 20, so their sorcery points are capped at 20. Similarly for high-level monks, their ki points can't exceed their Wisdom score. ## Monk Ki From the 2nd level monk ki feature, the description of the number of ki points is modified as follows: ~~Your monk level determines the number of points you have, as shown in the Ki Points column of the Monk table.~~ *You have a number of ki points equal to your Wisdom modifier plus your monk level, up to a maximum of your Wisdom ability score.* \columnbreak
## Sorcery Points From the 2nd level sorcerer font of magic feature, the description of the number of sorcery points is modified as follows: ~~You have 2 sorcery points, and you gain more as you reach higher levels, as shown in the Sorcery Points column of the Sorcerer table. You can never have more sorcery points than shown on the table for your level.~~ *You have a number of sorcery points equal to your Charisma modifier plus your sorcerer level, up to a maximum of your Charisma ability score.*
