College of Broadcasting

Bards from the College of Broadcasting are ranged combatants. Standing in complete opposition to College of Swords Bards, they prefer to be as far away from the actual fighting as possible while still being able to engage.

College of Broadcasting Features

Bard Level Feature
3rd Reliable Reporter, Talented Journalist
6th Unending Focus
14th The Kicker Headline

Reliable Reporter

When you join the College of Broadcasting at 3rd level, you learn the encode thoughts cantrip, which doesn't count against the number of bard cantrips you know. Encode thoughts strands that you create last until you are knocked unconscious unless you are knocked unconscious before the typical 8 hour duration ends.

All bard abilities and effects have their range increased by 50% and you can expend a bardic inspiration die to double the range of a spell and add that die to any rolls that may be made from the spell.

You can also create a photo from your eyes using the encode thoughts cantrip by using a bardic inspiration die. Encode thoughts created like this never expire even if knocked unconscious.

When you give any bardic inspiration die to an ally for any reason, you can also send them any number of encode thoughts strands to read at the same time.

Talented Journalist

At 3rd level, you gain proficiency with cartographer's tools and calligrapher's supplies as well as any cameras or recording devices present in your setting. You can use these as a spellcasting focus. You also gain proficiency in one of Insight, Investigation, or Stealth (you choose).

Unending Focus

Starting at 6th level, you have advantage on saving throws to maintain concentration on a spell and you can expend a bardic inspiration die to add to any saving throw you fail for concentration.

You can also cast Rary's Telepathic Bond both as a spell and as a ritual.

Additionally, your movement speed increases by 10ft.

The Kicker Headline

At 14th level, casting the message cantrip in combat allows you to regenerate a bardic inspiration die.

Additionally, you can use your bardic inspiration features from Reliable Reporter without expending a use of your Bardic Inspiration die a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1). The bardic inspiration die used for this free use is 1d6.

You regain all expended uses after a long rest.
