Warlock Otherworldly Patron: the Twin
The Twin is a second personality living within the confines of your mind; it might have been placed there by your patron, or it might actually BE your patron, granting you power in exchange for a host. These “Janus warlocks” make the best of their situation, making the most of their two minds’ strengths and weaknesses in any given situation, and proving incredibly difficult to control or predict.
Examples of Twin patrons can include gods of dichotomy or balance, extraplanar symbiotes, and powerful ghosts. They might be mutually reliant on you for survival, learning what it means to be human, or even teaching you a lesson in cooperation and selflessness.

|---|---|

Twin Mind
1st-level Twin feature
You have a second consciousness who can help you in unexpected ways. To create your second mind, determine a new set of Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma scores, and devise a new set of personality traits; you may also, at your GM’s discretion, give your second mind an entirely new background, proficiencies, and spells known, however these steps are optional and add additional complexity to the character.
When you finish a long rest, you may decide which of your minds is in control and which is dormant; you play with the controlling personality’s abilities and traits until you swap. One of your minds is always dormant, and the other in control; if ever you swap to your dormant mind, it becomes the controlling mind, and the current controlling mind becomes dormant.
From 10th level, you may swap your minds when you complete a short or long rest.
Still in Control
1st-level Twin feature
When you become charmed or frightened, you may immediately swap to your dormant mind, ending the effect causing you to be charmed or frightened.
Once you have used this feature, you may not do so again until you have completed a long rest.
Second Opinion
6th-level Twin feature
You can call on your dormant mind for flashes of inspiration, though bringing both minds to the fore is tiring for you. When you make an ability check, you may expend a hit die and roll it, adding the result to the ability check.
Brief Interjection
6th-level Twin feature
Your personalities can butt in to voice their expertise. You may choose to swap to your dormant personality as a free action, who remains in control for 1 minute before swapping back. This feature cannot be used in combat.
You may use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you complete a long rest.
No More Room
10th-level Twin feature
You gain resistance to psychic damage. Additionally, you have advantage on saving throws against becoming possessed or having your thoughts read or altered, such as through the modify memory spell.
Gestalt Entity
14th-level Twin feature
You and your “twin” learn to experience what it truly means to be one being, becoming greater than the sum of your parts. As an action, both your minds take control, granting you the following effects:
- You use the highest ability scores from between your two minds.
- You gain access to any proficiencies, features, and/or spells that are normally unique to each of your minds.
- When you roll dice to determine a spell’s damage or healing, you may add your proficiency bonus to one of its rolls.
- You have advantage on all saving throws.
- You can concentrate on two spells simultaneously, making concentration saves individually.
This transformation lasts for 1 minute, until you are rendered incapacitated or killed, or you choose to end the effect at the start of your turn (no action required by you). When the effect ends, you choose which personality becomes dormant again, and immediately suffer a level of exhaustion. Once you have used this feature, you may not do so again until you have completed a long rest.
