Bard: College of Shredding

College of Shredding

Long live rock and roll. The College of Shredding is for only the most electrifying of rockstars. Bards from this college are famous for their lightning-fast musical prowess, shocking stage presence, and just being real fucking loud. In a modern setting, a bard from this college is likely to wield an electric instrument, but even in more medieval settings, these rad bards can still rock a crowd by charging up their intense performances with thunderous, stormy magic.

Bards from the College of Shredding do not need to wield a string instrument. The art of sick ass shredding is for anyone. Rock on, you flute-tooting motherfucker!

Let There Be Rock

3rd-level College of Shredding feature When you join the College of Shredding, your affinity with electrical signals and sheer volume gives you access to an expanded list of spells when you learn a bard spell. The following spells are added to the bard spell list for you.

College of Shredding Expanded Spells
Spell Level Spells
Cantrip booming blade, lightning lure,
shocking grasp
1st witch bolt
2nd dragon's breath (lightning only)
3rd thunder step
4th storm sphere
5th destructive wave

Additionally, when you deal damage with a bard spell, you can change the spell's damage type to thunder or lightning. You can do so a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus. You regain all uses after a long rest.

Highway Star

3rd-level College of Shredding feature Your epic riffs can charge allies with rockstar vigor. When you give a creature a Bardic Inspiration die, their speed increases by 10 feet until the Bardic Inspiration die is expended or lost.

If the Bardic Inspiration die is expended on an attack roll, the creature can add additional thunder or lightning damage (the creature's choice) to the attack’s damage rolls, equal to the number rolled on the Bardic Inspiration die.

Thunderstruck

6th-level College of Shredding feature You are able to magically amplify electrical signals and sound waves around you.

Whenever a Large or smaller creature or object within 30 feet of you takes thunder or lightning damage, you can use your reaction to force the creature to make a Constitution saving throw (objects automatically fail). On a failed save, if the damage was thunder, you can push the target up to 10 feet away from the source of damage. Alternatively, if the damage was lightning, you can either reduce or increase the target's speed by 10 feet until the end of their next turn.

You cannot apply both effects to the same creature at the same time. The effects cannot stack concurrently.

Speed King

14th-level College of Shredding feature You can shred solos at lightning speed, filling your allies with adrenaline. As an action, you can start a performance that lasts for one minute. During that time, at the end of each of your turns, you may choose one creature other than yourself within 60 feet. The creature can take one additional action until the end of their next turn. That action can be used only to take the Attack (one weapon attack only), Dash, Disengage, Hide, or Use an Object action. Chosen creatures must be able to hear you at the start of their turn to utilize this benefit.

Each time you take damage, you must make a Charisma (performance) check against either the DC for the turn, or half the damage taken, whichever is higher. The performance ends early if you fail the ability check, you are incapacitated, you are silenced or if you voluntarily end it (no action required).

Once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you finish a long rest.
