Abilities:

Shapechanging:

The character gains the ability to transform into the creature associated with their specific strain of lycanthropy (wolf, bear, tiger, etc.) under the influence of the moon, typically during the full moon.

Enhanced Senses:

Their senses become keener, allowing them to detect faint sounds, scents, and movements. Perception checks related to sight, smell, and hearing are often at advantage.

Natural Weaponry:

Lycanthropes possess natural weapons in their hybrid and beast forms, such as claws, fangs, or powerful jaws. These natural attacks can deal additional damage.

Resistance:

Lycanthropes often have resistance to non-magical physical damage, reflecting their enhanced toughness and fortitude.


Detriments:

Moon’s Influence:

The transformation is influenced by the lunar phases, with the full moon being the most uncontrollable and intense. During this time, the character may be forced into their hybrid or beast form, losing control over their actions.

Infection System:

Lycanthropy Curse

Lycanthropy is a contagious curse that spreads through the bite of an infected lycanthrope. Characters carrying the curse of lycanthropy can pass it on to others, potentially creating new lycanthropes. The curse's effects are tied to the lunar cycle, moon phases, and the strength of the lycanthrope.

Infect Percentage:

10th Level:

10% chance to infect a target with a bite attack.

12th Level:

20% chance to infect a target with a bite attack.

14th Level:

30% chance to infect a target with a bite attack.

16th Level:

40% chance to infect a target with a bite attack.

18th Level:

50% chance to infect a target with a bite attack.

Infection Procedure:

When a lycanthrope character successfully hits a target with a bite attack, roll a d100. If the result is 10 or less, the target becomes infected with lycanthropy. At 12th level, the lycanthrope can choose to infect a target once per full moon.

Constitution Saving Throw:

Infected targets must make a Constitution saving throw against the following DC: 8 + lycanthrope character's proficiency bonus + lycanthrope character's Constitution modifier.

Success:

The target is frightened of the lycanthrope until the next sunrise or sunset, depending on the lycanthrope's strain.

Failure:

The target becomes Poisoned. At the start of every hour, the target repeats the saving throw.

After Three Successes:

The target is no longer Poisoned but gains 2 points of exhaustion.

After Three Failures:

The target becomes cursed as a lycanthrope of the same strain as the infecting lycanthrope.

The progression of the infection system reflects the increasing potency of the lycanthrope's curse. Characters can face dire consequences if the curse is not treated or if they fail to resist its effects.

Different Strains:

Lycanthropy is a curse that manifests in different strains, each tied to a specific type of creature. Each strain carries unique abilities, traits, and characteristics that reflect the nature of the creature it originates from. Here are some examples of different strains of lycanthropy:
